I've got one if you're interested? Don't really fancy getting involved in posting the sodding thing though. I'll be in Wellingborough in June if you can wait until then..

I think only phase 3 still made, might have phase 2 one in a dusty corner of a warehouse or parts dept somewhere, not a clue what the difference would be but the bonnets are slightly taller on a phase3.

Binned mine as it was filthy and had bits hanging off it. Six months later still haven't felt the need to buy another one.

Cant see the heat going onto the bonnet reaching those temperatures, well not unless you have a wee explosion going on under there LOL

I took mine off, its been in the shed for about 10 months and not had a problem

I don't know about yours, but my bonnet doesn't get hot enough for that. Paint on the bonnet underside is still perfect. But mine is a bog standard car. I did the same on a Golf VR6 I had 10 years ago and after 2 years without the sound deadening the paint was still fine.

I removed mine back in 2007, looks much nicer having the paint on the bonnet on display when the bonnet is up. Yes

Considering the power my car runs and the the temps I get sometimes in the bay, my paint is in perfect condition too. Thumbs up

Not only that, but it weighs extra and acts like a jumper for the engine to keep it warm.

Mine definitely runs slightly cooler without it. Cool

    Laugh my ass off

Well it does now...didn't used to though. It used to have a very well looked after, treated like a Royal Highness and occasional thrashing of a life. LOL

Now she just sits all sparkling clean under a dust cover, hibernating. Zzz
