Has any one bought any calipers off these people and if so, what are they like?

Reason for asking they have 4 pot 406 "brembo" calipers for sale, brand new on ebay for £249 the pair. It no-where states that they are re-con brembo's, or even use the brembo name anywhere, but it says they are brand new and look identical to OE Brembo 4 pots.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-406-COUPE-PAIR-FRONT-CALIPERS-BREMBO-STYLE-BRAND-NEW-/330720464498?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A406&hash=item4d0079ce72

With used Brembos going for about the £200 mark, that more than likely need a refurb anyway, would these be worth a punt? Or are they filled with chicken feathers and will cause a massive crash within the first 10 yards?Dunno

Just done a bit on net research and they are Budweg calipers - look them up and they are "Europes leading brake caliper re-manufacturer" so are they OE brembos that have been rebuilt or not????

Can't understand that - My mate enquired years ago and the guys in the shop couldn't even understand why it was listed as he knew they couldn't get them.

Call them and find out.

For the price they certainly can't be new Brembos thats for sure...

I would imagine either a recon set, or as Coskev says a cheaper copy. Yes

The photos of the 807 ones I want Look a lot like brembos tbh. They have the decals etc, im pretty sure they are reconditioned.

They might be new in terms of NEw from budweg.
But i suspect all budweg do it get the old calipers and rebuild them and then sell them as refurbished.
But they are new as they havent been used since?

See here for what I mean
http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/brakehydraulics.php

"Budweg have been re-manufacturing brake calipers since 1978. Today, Europe's largest and most respected caliper re-manufacturer, they produce over 7,000 calipers per week. Unlike many re-conditioners, Budweg renew every worn internal component; this ensures that a Budweg caliper is every bit as good as a new caliper.
Brakes International are Budweg's appointed UK national distributor and stock in excess of 5,000 calipers.

We also carry an alternative range of calipers sourced from TRW Lucas, SBS and Brake Engineering.

"

I've since emailed to ask about 807's and they said they cant get them. They respond to emails so its probably will tell you if they are proper or not.

Had quite a chat with a helpful guy on the phone today at Brakes International, he says these "brembo" calipers are not recon OE ones, but copies made of them, with exactly the same internals, piston sizes and fluid ways etc etc.

Not so sure now.....

£800? They've shot up in price...

When I bought mine back in early 2008 they were £540 for a pair of brand new 406 Brembos, although I got them for £410 as I got them trade at the time.

Indeedy. This has all taken a back burner for now really.

I saw aston martin db9 brembos on ebay earlier that looked VERY similar and i did wonder what it would take to get them to fit Razz

I'm most likely going to just fit the 307 discs as I CBA for getting the bells made up yet.
