I've not started a project thread yet, as I've not really made any massive changes yet... but here's some fresh pictures of where it's at now. (Mainly for musclebeach and all the other previous owners on here! LOL )

I decided to fit a pair of locking AeroCatches so I could get rid of the rubbish bonnet release on the car - it was very stiff and I hated having to drop the bonnet to shut it tbh!
Due to me not having an angle grinder or anything suitable for cutting metal, they took about 2 days to get right! Well worth it though, they're great!

Also found a pair of S1 106 Rallye fog grilles, sprayed black and fitted - they were also a bit of a pain, and I only had two screws to fit them instead of four...

Yellowed the full beams in the headlights for a retro French look - still not really sure on these, but I'll see if they grow on me.

I've had a lot of stick for the 205 wheels because it looks like a chavved up DTurbo, but I'm not really that bothered - they're only temporary and they had four brand new tyres when I bought them, so the wheels were essentially free!
I'll be going for Compomotive MO5's (like how it used to look) or Speedline 434's in the future, undecided as of yet.

Please note I'll be buying a new, clear passenger side indicator and painting that tow eye black! They let it down a bit IMO.

Cleaned and waxed (Collinite 476) pictures:

Next up, I need to fix an oil leak that's just started (most likely the crank seal ffs!), probably change the clutch while the gearbox is out, and do a cambelt change!
Thanks for looking Thumbs up

Thank you! Smile
Yep, binned all of it! LOL
I didn't quite get time to remove the cable, but the latch etc is gone. AeroCatches are awesome IMO. Very satisfying to use!

If you do go for AeroCatches, give yourself as much time to do them as possible! It's quite a tricky process...

The lights are coated in Lamin-X. It usually goes on the outside of the light, but I think that can look pretty crap... Only thing is, I'm not sure how hot it'll get in there and how well the Lamin-X copes with heat.. Time will tell. (Await "my headlights caught fire" thread Wink )

How much did your aerocatch pins cost you? Seen them on ebay for £45.
Looking good, get the wheels done grey

Yeah, that's about right - I got mine from Demon Tweeks, the non-locking ones are about £40 from them.
I did buy some paint for the wheels actually, but never got round to doing them!

Make sure you buy some from a reputable company I using eBay. There are lots of fakes about.

I got my last ones from AS Performance for my last gti6 what cost me £39 for locking ones but they have none in at the min and dont know when they will be getting any more in. They have to be locking pins tho

Good to see a progress of this, i hope those bonnet catches are perfectly straight.......not my thing.
Does it mean that anyone can open the bonnet now? Or are they a key fitment underneath?

It's proving hard to let that car go ha! But with the Compo's on it'll look the bo***cks!
Glad i didn't fit the illegal spec bulbs i've got here, they'd ave certainly melted the Lamin-X LOL

They are locking catches, you need a key to release them.

Gotta say, i love the headlights. Awesome mod for a P1.

Go with the Comp 5 spokes - again a superb wheel for the sharp edged P1

Yes please Mr Swampy Smile if not, there's a shop on eBay that does them for a tenner!

I think I'm edging more towards MO5's. It just looked so right on them! Will keep my eye out for a set. Preferably 15" as anything bigger is a bit pointless and just looks far too big!

I think the bulbs in it now should be Okay Chris. It's not like I'll have full beam on constantly, and I did try to light the laminX with a lighter, it just sort of curled up a bit... still, I'll be wary of them.

Next up is definitely going to be the cambelt and a timing check, see if anything's not as it should be!

Nice-looking car. A clean P1 in a decent colour looks the dogs danglies and I've always liked the 70s/80s French yellow headlights too.

I'd say this is almost a project thread already!

Once bought some bosch blue ones for my mini at £24 each! gulp!

I wouldn't be arsed fella, just keep updating this.....see if admin will move it to the projects section for you Wink

Bloody hell! That's almost getting on for HID prices.

We'll see, I do quite enjoy writing up about it. Next update is not going to be to everyones taste - but I got used to sitting so low in my MX5 that I had previously, going back to a hatchback seating position was a bit of a shock! I've got a blue (eurgh) Cobra Imola 2 seat for the drivers side... It was only 80 quid, so I can't grumble at that price! Shame Cobra don't seem to do replacement covers, I'd quite like a black one really - more OEM.

Joey, Speak to Mark Buntsford at the Cobra Factory in Telford directly, they can supply any cover you want for any cobra seat, and are a pleasure to deal with.Thumbs up

Get a really good price for the seats too if you sell mate because apart from the small hole, the bolsters were really good.....pretty rare finding them like that now

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it'd be worth anything with the tear in the fabric. What would you say is a good price for it? I've no idea on 306 interior stuff!
