I am on making some Polycarb windows up at the minute with a mate. At the minute we have made up some MDF templates for the 4 side windows what fit perfect. With work being busy at the minute its hard finding time to move forward with these but Polycarbonate sheets are on order and should be here this week ready to be cut.

This is the front window template we have cut to show you how the windows will fit

The fronts when finished will look a bit like this:

We have not designed any runners for the sliders as of yet but that's next once windows are cut. Was thinking of doing them like the clubman style sliders, large square cut outs or just sticking to basic round cut outs:

Clubman:

Round:

The windows will be made from 3mm thick Polycarbonate sheet. I was going to use 2mm on the rears but when comparing the 2 and 3mm, the 2mm is very flimsy compared to the 3mm.

The windows will need to be sealed and riveted into place to prevent them leaking or blowing out while driving. Front windows will only need riveting along the bottom as the top and sides will sit snug inside the original window seals.
Front windows will also come with sliders what you can open and close and will also have a small hook on so you can lock the sliders from the inside.

Peugeot 306 Polycarbonate window kits:
* 3mm Clear Polycarbonate front door windows
* Cut outs with sliders and locking catch in front door windows
* 3mm Clear Polycarbonate rear 1/4 windows
* Approximately 50% weight saving compared to glass
* Windows are CNC profile cut ready to fit (They are NOT thermoformed)

You can but a full polycarbonate window kit from Plastics 4 performance what are thermoformed to the original shape of the windows, 3mm clear, 2x small sliders (1 small slider on each front window) and this kit will set you back around£480 inc.VAT

Rear screens may be available at a later date but we are just working on the 4 side windows for now.

Price list:

Prices for all cars:
Fronts with sliders - £95
Fronts no sliders - £80
Rears no border - £80
Rears with black border like standard windows - £95

Prices not including P&P
Can provide fitting for £25
All kits come with sliders fitted and rivets to fit the windows

These are looking good, could you just do the two rears? And at you planning to do a rear screen at any point?

Thanks.

This is basically how I made mine, and can confirm there's no need for the side windows to be thermoformed, as they only bend in one direction so will fit perfectly Yes

The rear screen is a completely different ball game though, as you need an autoclave to form the sheet over a template, and is not really something you can do at home.

Yes i could supply 2 rear 1/4 windows only. Need to get things cut and fitted to my car before i confirm the go ahead. Also been looking at adding the black boarders on the rear 1/4 windows but that will obviousley be an the buyers request and extra cost.

As for rear screen i have been thinking about trying it as it may work on standard tailgates but as owan says it is a completley different ball game! The rear screen bends in all different ways and i wouldnt want to supply straight sheets for them to snap or crack when fitting. This is something i may look into if i can find someone to help with the right tools.

Can you get the polycarb with the green tint so it looks like the normal glass windows?

I may be interested in a pair of front ones without any sliders/holes in them if so, maybe even rears if they are tinted to look like std. Smile

Bear in mind the rears will need rivets to hold them in and you can't use polycarb windows with sliders, so they'll never look quite standard.

Expensive!!! It goes through my mates work so i dont deal with that. Will need to ask him how big it is and the price of it.

I will look into it mate. Not sure on what we can get but i will let you know. You wont be able to use window winders with poly windows mind and rears will also need rivets to kiip them in and provent them from letting water in as owain has said.

I know about rivets and not looking standard, i've just got a pair of rears which im not sure may be too dark so it would make sense to have matching fronts and rears, though i dont want them to be overly noticable of what they are from a distance like very clear.

I don't want to use a winder on the fronts, i'm going to owain style a fan for interior cooling, but my car lives outside so a slider probably isnt ideal for those pikeys out there who would notice a nice easy way into the car.

Still undecided on what to do window wise but im looking to lose weight now i've added a load with a cage. LOL

Same as me Ste, all that hard work with weightsaving, and add load with cage Doh

How about getting AdamB to make a black border for the rears? Stick it on the outside to help make it look standard and cover the rivets Wizard

I am also concerned about security. Eddy, how good will the "locks" be on the windows?

That was one of my plans Chris.

I think im not going to bother with windows for now, i've got a couple already which i may pop in once the interior is painted and will probably stay in until i get round to painting the exterior, then after that i may go for matching polycarbonate front and rear.

Still awaiting Adam to get back to me from a previous PM. Whistle LOL

Yes Thats the plan eventually. Final colour is undecided but its looking like it will either be a blue, a dark grey or black.
It will be a rattle can job though rather than professional style. Laugh

Considered that for mine, but couldn't think of an accurate enough way to mask it up.

If you park it on an open street I wouldn't go for poly fronts. I'm pretty sure there's enough flex in the plastic I could just kick mine through if I wanted to.

Done a little drawing of where the sliders will be. They will need moving and cutting out to get them perfect tho.
The hole i was thinking will be around 150x200mm so is still quite practical if you use the car most days, I could change the cut out to smaller round holes what will provent anyone sticking there hand through when the sliders are open. That could be another option.

I havnt thought about locks as of yet but i will be looking into it and finding something good enough for the job.

If you want something people can't stick their hands through take a look at the pop-it vents from Demon Tweeks. They're much better at scooping air in and you certainly can't get a hand through. Simple drill-a-hole job too, far easier to fit.

yeah they pop-it vents i had on mine were fantastic, no problems.

only issue is if you ever got to McDonalds they have to fold your cheeseburger like a napkin to fit it through the window. otherwise all OK

That's true, the whole one-chip-at-a-time thing is a b**ch.

One thing probably worth noting, there's no way these tints are legal:
