so, from this thread, we have established that it could quite literally be *anything* which is attached to the vehicle. we are basically including everything except the Vanillaroma magic tree air freshener and the rear seatbelt (middle one)

and that is why you pay £5 a year. for this invaluable information which is found nowhere else on the internet

I had this problem once, turned out I'd left a CD of "Whirring Noises 2009" in the CD player. Had me stumped for weeks.

Believe it or not a cd or a small stack of them caused me literally weeks of trying to find out what was wrong with my rear caliper. Made a really weird noise when braking.

Found said stack of CDs in the rear door card pocket.....

I actually bought a second caliper too.

if it doesn't turn out to be the Whirring Noises 2009 cd, it may very well be the "Now! That's what I call Whirring 2006". i am led to believe the 2006 cd surpasses the 2009 cd in terms of realism when it comes to the noises

once, i thought i was having a heart attack. turned out it was just Owain driving past my house in his 306 with his Whirring Noises 2009 double-CD on (track 6, "Whirr did you go"Wink

Good suggestion.

I've had them checked today and they are all fine. I'm thinking drive shaft now because when you nail it in 1st your can feel it osculating it also does this in 2nd as well when you load it up at low rpm.

Question now is which one Dunno

Am i right in thinking more towards driver side due to the majority of the power being sent to that shaft?

well the driver side is the side that spins if you open the taps therefore suggesting more power is sent there nd its not an even distibution. If im wrong thats fine just after some opinions as this is meant to be a forum full of knowledge Erm? tells me nothing Thumbs up

Could be an option i guess. I have no foreign noises or crunches from the box though. Is there an easy way to diagnose diff problems?

You will know if its the PAS pump as you can hear it in the engine bay when you rev it (you know that already so we can prob count PAS pump out!)

Erm, cambelt tensioner? How longs it been doing it for?

Have you checked the hub nuts as Pete has said?

Try seeing if the noise goes when in Neutral or with clutch down etc, thats the best way to eliminate between diff and driveshafts.

The hub nuts are FT Wink

It makes the noise when all of the above you have mentioned is applied. Particularly when applying steering lock.
