Can anyone tell me if you can buy the plastic flexible sheath that seems to cover the steering ram on the gti6/xsara vts racks?

I have never seen them for sale separately.

I've always thought it was a pretty ridiculous solution to the problem of protecting them.

Could you not replace it with some heavy duty generic plastic. Builder's rubble sacks are pretty similar and could possibly be adapted.

Yup, only supplied with the ram. I'd say that adapting a rubble sack or similar is a very good idea Yes

The standard one isn't particularly strong anyway. When I replaced my PAS ram recently the bag actually got ripped slightly just by me refitting the heat shield as I was reassembling everything. Roll eyes

If anything they just hold water in there which ends up on your face when you remove them.

Digger rams have better dust sealing and designed to run in the elements, for the 10 minutes it takes to bag it up with cable ties I dont see why anyone wouldn't bother?
