completely new to the pug scene, so hello everyone........ done a deal today which i ended up with a gorgous sky blue gti-6 with 17's. tbh its a bit of a pig, i took it as a non runner, the engine bay is full of electrical and duct tape and scotch locks!! matey said before it conked out it kept boiling up ...... so at best im guessing the head gasket is gone.are the heads prone to cracking? are the blocks cast alloy if so im guessing itl be a new lump anyways? It has by the looks of it, had a HARD life if im honest but it cost me next to nothing so if i scrapped her i wouldnt lose out, but i dont want to do that unless i really have too. any advice and warnings of to do's and NOT to do's would be greatly appreciatedThumbs up

Welcome to the club! Wave

The engine blocks on these are made of cast iron, not alloy, so it should only be a head skim and new gasket you should need. Smile
