Evening all
been on here a while and finally got a 6 after wanting one from when they first came out. this ones could be track too hopefully. thought best join too

Anyway im working my way through list of things to do and brakes are juddering so i thought warped discs?
just took wheel off to have a look and thought front disc looks a bit small
its a 267mm or thereabouts. Arent these supposed to be 283mm std? the caliper says lucas b131 .
Has someone put the wrong discs on this?
If they have put wrong discs on it does this mean ive got wrong calipers too?
thanks
sam

283x22.

lower spec models, and the older S16 used 266x20, should say Lucas and 57 on your calipers if they are the proper gti6 ones.

well
discs are 266 x20
and caliper says lucas 5856/1 and lower down says 8131 ( well thats what it looks like anyway)
havent got caliper off yet to check piston size as bolts are solid so might have to soak em for a bit

Sounds like someones been tight and fitted 266mm discs on there.

Is there any lip on the pads?

and yes there is!

I had major juddering on my brakes recently, when the old disc came off there was a visable and noticeable to the touch ridge all the way around the inside of the disc so something must've scored all the way around it and warped it something cronic. Disc was only a couple K old too.

Anyway fresh discs and pads all round and shes now braking wonderfully Smile

If you can post some pics up of your caliper people should be able to tell you if its a gti6 caliper

that was my plan anyway before this.
so is it fair to assume that someone has cut cost/bought wrong discs.

when i looked on gsf they only list a 266mm disc where as eurocarparts list it on my reg as 283mm!

The premium discs used to be Brembo's, not sure if they still are
premium pads were girling iirc.

they do indeed look correct, I don't know any other 306 caliper that has those fins over the caliper body, between those you should see the numbers 57.

I'm fairly certain the discs I had fitted for a mot are wrong too, I just don't have the stomach to check.
