Has anyone used the above and had a good result, as some of you know I have a 205 gti and want to freshen up the plastics and the rear spoiler, seen this stuff about and just wondered if anyone else has had a blast with it and can recommend it.

Anyone whack up some photos of what they have achieved.

Just want it to Britten the plastics and hide some defects whilst being strong and not flaking off.

Carl

I have used it on some bumper trim corners on a BMW. Was good stuff from what I saw...

But I couldn't comment on how it lasts as I actually painted the trims after I got off the phone to the new owner and he was only 30 mins away from arriving to view. I forgot I had removed them previously to paint, and they were stored away in primer. So I gave them a couple of coats, and then stuck them back on wet LOL

For those that read many a thread, it was the fuse removing viewer. So I feel no shame.

Anyway, Have you tried plasticare? It is a trim dye, and is suprisingly good. The 205 forum swear by it. You can get it through there for about £13 a bottle. Enough to do a couple of 205's if you are frugal/tight.

Mate it is phenomenal (sp) paint, honestly im a spastic when it comes to painting but i even manage it! My towing eye has it, my front badge, my rocker covers ive just refurbed, battery stay bar. The big cans give better coverage, spray it on and leave it a day or so and it should self level and leave a very high gloss finish!

    plasticare Thumbs up

either get a bottle off ebay, or get in touch with your local Wurth rep though it only comes in big bottles from them, and you don't need much.

its a dye not a paint so wont flake off.

Plastikote is really good but once it's on it's hard to paint back over without getting reactions, this is what ive found and used it for a few years painting small car parts/trims/wheels.

The more natural look i think makes a 205gti kit look better, try some of http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/t1tyre-and-trim/

They have stuff that can make one wash/treatment last for ages.

I did this on a corsa I had. It went from having aged grey plastics back to black with a nice lustre Smile

It did take quite a bit of time though

Do you speak from experience with black hands? LOL

I wore one glove Jackson stylie and glad I did. I used a sponge to apply and when the sponge becomes wet through it starts to make a real mess on your hand. I kept one hand gloveless so I could lick my index and wipe off any mistakes from surrounding areas when I got cocky and didn't mask up. I had about 100 bits of card shoved between the trim and the panel so I could get right to the edge without worrying about it bleeding. I made sure as I moved along I used fresh card as I knew I'd end up shoving a used bit in further along and it could be wet still and smudge all over the white paint.

Take off what you can to make it easier. I removed all the red strips as I'm sad and wanted to t cut them up anyway. I removed the door trims as they come off easily and it was a good excuse to polish behind and clean the dirt out so it would reduce any dirty streaks from future washing.

i looked into doing the black parts on the p1 and went to a few places on my travels to enquire. it all depends on what sort of finish you are after :
if you were selling the car it would be the final touch and make a difference between a good sale and maybe someone walking off if it were not done.
long term for a show car unless all other resources have gone i.e. no more trims bumpers available then it is the only solution left. the few examples i saw of 'professional finish 'were ok but not as good as the real thing. as luck would have it i managed to acquire a new bumper in the end which solved my problem and new trims to replace the tatty ones.
it aint as good as the real thing and you would know the difference between the finishes

For more uses on it, check my 'new fancy dress' thread in off topic Carl. I've heard nothing but praise for the stuff and it seems to be totally reversible and easy to peel back off.

Think Mabs has used some since I showed him it, might be wrong though.
