I wore driving gloves and then the film 'Drive' came out and people thought I was copying the guy from the film. It gives you more grip on the wheel and its more hygenic. Also I looked cool in them, but now I cant wear them cus people go 'haha you think youre the guy from Drive!'

I wear them for go-karting and winter driving with no heating in the 6... I wear these

You don't look like too much of a twat (I hope) 'cos they're not proper driving gloves and they're *borrowed* from work, so it isn't like you made an effort to get them Cool

I wear them in winter! Lol I do look gay but I have warm hands. Driving in winter without them has become unpleasant.

This. In the old days you *had* to have them because cars were open so your hands would freeze off. If you're a racing driver, it's because they're fireproof.

    ^^^ This.

...and because in days gone by cars didn't have power steering or synchromesh gearboxes and driving cars was a much more physical experience than it is these days. Think driving a 1930s Blower Bentley over the Stelvio, or a Maser 250F around the Nurburgring.

A lot of the Lotus owners seem to wear gloves when on track. I think it's a grip thing or maybe to stop the sweatDunno The only thing I can think of is we don't have power steering like you namby pamby Pug owners and have we much better feel through the steering wheelWhistle

Oh I'd just like to add that I don't own a pair of driving glove Thumbs up

A friend of mine wears gloves on track as his hands sweat apparently when concentrating.

I have no power steering, but my wheel is old and slippery and I think gloves would actually make it worse as I don't feel the same feedback.

My hands only get sweaty when I'm horny.

That worries me as when I collected the seats from you I noticed your palms were sweaty as you carried
    The seat to my car.

What can I say. Petite men turn me on.

You think my hands left a residue, you should have seen the state of the alcantara before I gave it a wash.

My dog does the same. Although he gets it 'straight from the tap'.
