I have a gti6 longman worked head currently fitted with piper 285 cams and a full set of cams. I will have the head inspected and tested prior to sale.

looking for £600 for the lot or will split
head £350
cams £250
veriers £125

head work cost over £500
Piper 285 cam kit £400+ vat
http://www.pipercams.co.uk/pipercams/www/product.php?pid=GTI6BP285H
Full set of verniers £195 + vat
http://www.pipercams.co.uk/pipercams/www/product.php?pid=PULDGTI6

I believe these cams need a mappable ecu amd are good for 200+bhp... only reason for sale bottom end loss of compression ( beleived to be a piston ring and an unscrupulous previous owner) .

Engine was allegedly built by the last owner so not sure its yr head though i knew it came from your stomping ground. If it was your head can you identify it in any way?

should have a longman id number, Brett Sims could help if you find anything on it.

not with standard pistons.

pulleys fit fine, no mods, not sure what the maximum lift for standard springs is though.

theres not much room for adjustment of the cam timing on the standard setup as the tolerances of the rs engine are very fine. you could swing the cam timing slightly and it will vary how the power is delivered but you wont get any ultimate gain really. it wouldnt need a remap.

I have 3 people wanting the verniers, mad scientist being first. I am not splitting until head or cams or complete engine sell pending the problems being diagnosed and the block not being scrap as I would rather it go complete. I should also add I have received info that the guy that did the head and rods on this lump was a longman employee until its demise/retirement ( or whatevers still going on there) and may not have marked the head accordingly.

chris was referring to the head in the advert to see why the engine lost compression not the rallye engine

What sort of gain could you expect from just the head? (i.e using cams and pulleys from my car)

What else would be needed to swap it over? Remap??

Regards, Dave

Very little I would've thought. Without the cams, pistons and mappable ECU to mak the most of the extra airflow it would be a lot of work for not a lot of return. But with the above mods it would be a quick way to 200+bhp.

update. Head is off and amazingly its lost compression due to a cracked incorrectly fitted piston ring so does NOT need a rebore so whole engine available. Have an interested party who is first in line if that falls through will be open to splitting though these cams need pocketd pistons... I am told that pistons are woosner but was sold the engine as peugeot sport pistons. Next step will be to pull the offending piston out and identify so as to get the correct new ring.
