Picked this up on Sunday after selling my 306 Rallye, good enough car,no where as fun as the 306 but cheaper to run Woooo!

106 Gti (s16 badges- French gtis.)
Usual spec full leather interior
91k miles
78k Engine
138.8bhp ATF with printout
Polished cam covers
Newman PH2 Spec cams
Brand new ToyoSports 4-2-1 Stainless steel manifold (needs heatwrapping)
Grp N Pugsport 2" full stainless system exhaust system
New coil pack

Vtr gearbox 70k no whines no crunches but leaks oil and the ratios are too tame.
this will be replaced with a 1.4 Xsi or S2 Rallye box as soon as I find a good one.
OBP quickshift
Rose ball joint gear linkages
Teckniclutch fast road clutch

Suspension: Full apex kit all round this includes; Rear dampers Front shocks Front 40mm springs The rear has been lowered to match the front and it sits perfectly
Fully poloybushed mounts all round the car
Upper omp strut brace in red (lower strut brace on the way)
Standard Gti 'Raptors' wheels with bugdet tires (need to go ASAP, ruins the drive)
Has a few cosmetic issues, slight paint flake on rear bumper, front Splitter missing, exhaust has slightly melted the bumper, arches are bonded on bandly, plenty of lil dinks and scrapes. This will all be sorted by next week.
Also some electrical problems.central locking, electric mirrors don't work!

Ncan't leave it alone so I've ordered a bunch of goodies/ still sourcing some!
Heatwrap for the manifold
Full set of Grp N engine and gearbox mounts
106 Rallye steel 15" wheels and Toyo T1R tires. I'll spray the wheels a dark grey with a red lip or bright redSmile
New exhaust wire gasket & hangers
New bulbs
New head bolt kit
Lower strut brace
Enclosed induction kit rather than the massive k&n type filter
Braided brake lines
306 Gti6 master cylinder

That's all..I thinkSmile I'll crack on with tidying it all up
Few pics after a quick clean earlier
Front fogs now have a yellow tint on them which imo is a nice old skool touch!

Haha excellent! That's exactly what happened to my car before the 306, two days later it was totally stripped, caged buckets. no messing around. Let's hope he doesn't bin it on its first track day!

Looks good, should defo be a bit cheaper to run. They are proper dinky compared to a 306 though aren't they?

Always fancied a 106 gti though Smile

Yea seems tiny compared to the Rallye, and i forgot how close together the pedals are! Good fun thou, awesome suspension set up + budget tires makes for entertaining corneringSmile really need to rev that little engine to get it going compared to the 306.

Great fun little cars, i like how you have to rev them and dont have to be going as fast as a 6/rallye to have almost as much fun. Build quality takes a noticable dip from a 306 though dont you think.

I've been busy 'sorting' a few bits in this heapWink
Full service incl oil & filter change, spark plugs, coolant flush. Now seems to run a little smoother.
While I had it jacked up I decided to heatwrap the manifold, 4th time ive wrapped one,s**t is never fun!
Put on some new washer jets and a new
Manifold to exhaust gasket
Front grill
Front gti splitter
Yellow tinted front fogs
About to fit Orange banded objectors
New cam cover& coilpack bolts
New pinch bolts for lower wishbones
New upper wishbone bolts
Powerflex lower engine mount
New constella grpN gear linkages

Car feels a little tighter now but a lower strut brace is needed, steering feels very vague compared to my old s1 16v.
Doesn't help that it has rubbish budget tires.
Pugsport needs some mega welding, has a big holeSad

Will update with pics tomorrow, wheels will soon be black until I find some steels and GOOD tires.

Another weird thing.. runs slighty lumpy,as expected with it being cammed but has a slight hesistation/ bogs down briefly when its driven from cold. Sorts itself out after a mile or so. it hasn't got worst and its not that noticeable.
Previous owner says its because its been cammed but I don't know..any ideas?

Also engine temp gauge goes crazy when under full throttle, then goes steady again.

Will upload a video with the higher cc objectors fitted later. I got a lot more pops & bangs and smoother throttle response with them on my old 16v Rallye.

if they are not standard injectors and is not mapped it will not run particularly great.

They are later Gti injectors,225cc compared to the early type 215cc type. Should make too much difference? Had em on my old 16v Rallye for months and it ran fineSmileRuns well, if anything has a bit more pull in the high revs.

later as in 3 plug? probably different map[ping, not much experience with those though, but I'd try the original ones first as its the only non standard part.

Yea the three plug ones. They won't run at all on earlier Gtis than mine. Different pulse I think? Car drives better now, feels like the power comes on smoother.

Today I went a bit crazy with the wheels.initial plan was to spray them in BMW sparkling grey but the Peugeot cherry red caught my eye..
Not sure if I like it yet. Will only be till payday when I get some Rallye steel wheels and decent rubber.

Heatwrapped mani

Oh and I butchered my pugsport!
