I dont think my gti6 is performing well.

I'm trying to figure out what is causing the lack of performance in my gti6, had it for a year it's got 97,000 miles on the clock.
I'm suspecting the fuel pressure is low i've ordered a pressure gauge tester and a fuel filter and i'm gona test it on wednesday hopefully, i will re-post the results.

I can't think what else affects performance: air filter is clean, spark plugs renewed last year, as well as oil changed, practically new (standard) exhaust.

No it wasn't a sudden decline. All you guys on here saying a gti6 is spose to do 0-60 in just over 7 seconds mine feels like a more lethargic 8 to me at the moment. It doesn't quite feel as sharpish and doesn't jolt you back in your seat it just feels gradual even in 1st.

    LOL

I can just see it now...

Officer: So why were you racing another vehicle on the public highway?

You: Because some lad off the owners club said if I was worried about the health of my car, to find another car the same model and see if I could beat him...

    Officer: And did you?

You: No, its not running too well after all.

    Laugh my ass off

lol, i had doubts about my pug recently thinking it wasnt pulling very well,
on saturday i just so happened to catch up with a gti6 that lives near by (ok, i'll admit he passed me going the other way and i turned and followed him) got onto our private speedway Smile and ye, turns out mines running great, no difference between the two what so ever. so im now delighted.

well, its either running great or his is running equally as sh!t lol.

Maybe you're just getting used to it...?

Cars always feel slower after a while! 7.5 secs ish to 60mph is not bad in the real world!

    Flat tire? Razz

do you have a compression testing kit? make sure your head gasket's not on it's last legs?
mine went between chambers,.. it felt a little sluggish prior to sorting that,..

    changed the fuel filter recently?

brake binding? I had a rear caliper siezed for quite some time - not really badly but even the slightest hint can rob you of performanceDunno

    Thats a good shout.

Also how old is your exchaust, collapsed cat, blowing, baffles blown out?

If a general service doesnt fix it then either find someone to test with or put it on some rollers.

I'm in stanford-le-hope. If you want to pop down to me we can compare. Not racing, just taking a look, mind.

If you've got a bit of cash to spare have it down to the Steve's at track and road, just by the A13.

I would have changed the fuel filter today but it hasn't come in the post yet.
I am going to fuel pressure test it as well tomorrow see what's going on.

How do you know if your brakes are binding? I have noticed when I've had the front wheels off that the ns disc tends to rub on the pad kind of like its distorted. But no signs of veering off to the left when braking, although slight squeel when braking slowly.

Had my tyres changed recently from 205/50/R15 back to standard 195/55/R15 which actually corrected a slight drift to the left.

I'll have to look into the compression test haven't got the kit but i suppose i could take it to the garage.
