So just recently i thought i should heme rage some cash into the car. In comes Rich W as he supplied me with one of his shiny flywheels and crank pulley thanks Rich

Just a side note to say that the service i recieved from Rich was top notch and i would certainly use him again.

So whilst i was waiting for the date i had with Stuwee on the forum to fit the goodies i decided to get the wheels refurbed and painted i personally like them but i know they wont be to everyones taste.

So the day has arrived and at 7am Saturday morning just gone i made my way over to Stuwee's work shop in Enfield to start ripping the old girl to pieces. Time to break out the red bull and plenty of cigarettes.

Let the work begin.



It didnt take long at all to strip the car down of the bits that needed to be removed. Everything to our surprise came apart with ease. Anyway heres the gear box.



Filthy! Now due to my OCD clean problem that i have with my car i decided to give it a bit of a clean.



Thats more like it!

Old clutch and flywheel out and we're left with this.



As you can probably see the main oil seal has been weeping over time so this was replaced with a brand new OE item.

For anyone who does not know the difference between the OE flywheel and a Rich W one here is a piccy just for you.



I was quite surprised with the weight difference.

Also replaced were the clutch fork arm bushes along with brand new diff seals. All parts OE.

Now its time to start putting everything back together.




I love new parts! So moving on, Now that everything is back together we turned our attention to the final job of the day. Time to remove the rest of AC system.

Been waiting a while to bin this piece of turd!


Anyway there we are all done and dusted. Pretty productive day and i must say i was very impressed with the results. On the first start up it was very obvious that the flywheel had been changed! I was shocked at how much faster the engine was revving up.

Had mine in a few years now and love it, I too had a leaking main oil seal it would seem last week ( noticed it last Wednesday when got back from shift) but mine then failed not long after - Thursday on the way to Colchester , got there with almost no oil in the engine but lots under the car and all over the back.Just filled the car with what oil I had spare just before the slow(ish) drive back. Gave the wonderful guys at M&W autos in Wisbech a call and they fitted me right in and even got me a loan car even though they are up to their eye balls with work!

Sorry for a silly question. but i think I know where my oil is going now...
Oh well, I always look for excuses to do things like that so i'll pick up a flywheel.
How much would it cost for a garage to do that seal do you think?

As Chris has said to get to that oil seal you need to remove everything anyway. So get it done fella, it's a pretty labour intensive job.

Chris I have 2 weeks off, still need your brakes doing??

Not too clued up about fitting diffs but I'd imagine you have to strip the box down which i guess would be very expensive.

Steering wheel wobbles on throttle in 3rd/4th/5th/6th when giving it the beans since i did my ball joints.
Would you say thats cos tracking is out?

I am in Southampton from probably Saturday late afternoon till sunday about lunch time so if we can fit it in Sat before i go or Sunday after im back that would be good. Whats better for yee?

I know you're not a fan of getting up earlyish so that would prob count Saturday out
