Yeah I was on the motorway constantly a coupe of years ago and regularly attained circa 40mpg, brim to brim. Had 509 miles once, all motorway in one hit.

Average tank now around 32 to 36mpg with more town journeys and cold starts.

What speed did you sit at roughly?

Went with Anth to pick up a new car for him recently and drove to hull, I was only getting around 300 miles to the tank motorway driving, but was sat at a reasonable speed following him on the way back.....

My car sits in 6th gear at 70mph for 90% of its use. It takes a while I think of running it under those conditions to get increasingly better mpg. Depends what your car spends most of its life doing I think...mines had full service recently and is maintained pretty well so that's where I get my economy from....I'm sure the lightened fly helps also as less energy needed to spin it up etc

Got a receipt here for Fuel, £81 for a tankful and that wasn't even Vpower! £1.35 or so a litre of the normal stuff up here these days. Sad was almost under the orange zone though so almost running on empty but still, £81 and I'll be lucky to get 350-370 miles off that!

I am getting 150 miles to £40 with mixed driving. All short runs. Just put a tenner in and it looks like I am going to get 25 miles from that!
Is there something wrong, ie temp sensor or similar or is this the norm for mixed short journeys with an occasional blast to limiter where allowed?

Driving up to Silverstone in a couple of weeks for the Silverstone Half Marathon so hopefully will get more mpg

also how much does it cost to fill a 6 now from empty im guessing around the £80 mark

It takes about £74 of V-Power Thumbs up

Mines closer to £100 from empty.

I get around 250-300 and they are all tiny journeys, as I only drive it to the gym and to football and such.

I get 515 miles out of 67 litres in the shed on the motorway at 75mph with the family and a week's holiday stuff in.

I get 12mpg on track and average about 26/27 on my normal B road commute.

Really? How much is petrol down your way?

Same here, mine occasionally gets used for a 5 minute drive to the train station and to see the missus a few times a week.

I found this but then it all gets wiped out when you have to spend £600 having the cambelt changed! (unless you've got a peasant spec one)
