Good fast (dry) road tyre, sidewalls are too soft for track use so they self destruct. PE2 are fantastic all rounders. Yokohama Advan Neova AD08's better on track.

Yes but then they are a dedicated track tyre!

R888's for me, the best all-round performer IMO, and I have found that they were still offering a good level of grip in the damp/greasy conditions and wet.

The only condition I haven't tested the R888's in is in a monsoon condition, and to be fair they weren't really designed for that anyway...Smile

Thats good going! LOL
I did similar with t1r's but with those, I was glad to get them off the car. I mullered them, chewed up the outer edge of the tire, the sidewall collapsed in one and the grip was negligable. But at list they are only half the price of eagles. Smile

Well, with the same sort of abuse the Parada's are coming up on 15k and still have about 10k left in 'em....

I can't believe this debate is still going on!!!
To be fair, to anyone who wants to drive like a twat in the wet, it doesn't matter what tyre you get, you're still going to crash & burn!
It makes me laugh how people totally ignore the opinions of people with VASTLY more experience than them when it comes to tyres but will dote on absolutely everything they say when it comes to suspension etc.
At the end of the day a good driver with Parada's will still muller a mediocre driver on any other road tyre you want to mention ON TRACK...Ninja

Ps2's are in my experiance dangerous. I once hit the brakes at 20mph in the rain and silently slid into the car in front in my old scooby. And due to that I would never use them again.

Thats great Wayne and what about those times when you have to hit the brakes suddenly in the wet? That happens sometimes even when you aren't driving like a twat. Considering the weather in this country I will always buy the best wet road tyre I can. In 195/50/15 I found that to be either the PE2 or F1 GSD3. In 225/45/17 its PilotSport3 or SportContact3. All of those aren't good on a dry track, not bad on a wet track though..

Tyres for track are something completely different and thats not what the thread was originally about. If the Paradas are good on track in the dry then thats fantastic, but i'd always prefer being on an 888, RS-R or A048 etc etc

Hmmm, a parada fan? Any other decent tire ftw. They are shite in the wet in normal driving conditions which is very bad. Other tires are as good if not better in the dry and still work in the wet when cold and for only a little more cost. Its a no brainer for me, eagles or pe2's every time.

You're missing my point, the parada's are a good tyre for the money that on the occasion you may want to do a trackday won't disintegrate after the first lap. The reason I mentioned the track is that that is the only place you can possibly find out how good your tyres really are.
I did a track session at fcs a few years ago with the Clio lads, when I booked the session they thought I was a Clio owner so they were p*ssed off when they found out I had a rallye so they hatched a plan to blow me away with a V6, he lasted 2 corners before I passed himLaugh my ass off All the others were easy enough to catch & pass except for one running slicks, I tried to do a 90mph corner at the same speed as him & got into a tank slapper, quite dramatic at that speed but I managed to keep it on the black stuff.
TBH I'm not bothered what tyres people think are better than others, it's your money so buy what you likeDunno

Cool

Are these [P6000's] bad then? I have them on the back of mine. T'other day arse end stepped out a little too easily but I put it down to the road, was I wrong though? Hmm

Yup, we call them ditchfinders round these parts. I had 7 year old barely legal ones on the back of mine until last weekend. In the rain they were horrendous. Got some PE2's on there now and they've transformed the carCool

So Aaron, are you honestly telling me that Paradas are that bad you would rather have a set of P6000s on your '6' than Paradas in wet conditions if they were the only choices?

If you are, I think you would be on your own with that one mate...LOL
