Jsa666, see rich for gasket, arp bolts and long answer shells, cheapest I could find them.

I learnt my lesson the hard way saying that if I hadn't killed the second engine I'd never off built the high boost engine!! Pics to follow

Comma motorsport oil fail!!

ECU or Fueling issue had to be map/ecu related as after another ecu/map car has been fine.

Chris, I was running Comma Motorsport 5w50 oil on both my low boost AND high boost engines with no problem at all. Yes

I did however, change over to Royal Purple on the super high boost engine just for piece of mind.

Cometic do a 1.8mm head gasket, true or false???

before this engine goes back together i'm considering all possible ways of lowering the c/r, even if its only a small

amount

i really don't like the idea of a decomp plate

surly if you have looked at de comp plates etc your as well spending the £500 on a set of pistons than £200 on a de-comp plate and head gaskets

lower comp pistons will go alot further than a cometic head gasket or de-comp plates

biggest problem with boost builds is money as doing it right unfortunately costs alot

in the last few years i have seen , built and mapped alot at all various specs so my biggest advice would be to put as much money (with in reason) as you can afford into the engine etc as doing it twice or three times it ends up costing the same or more.

i totally understand what your saying in all respects, especially the costs of decomp plates/gaskets etc vs forged

pistons.

~£550 plus vat for set of pistons, now we have the proper C/R, next obstacle is the rods, how good are they? and

what is the safe limit fir them?, Risk turning boost up, throw a rod which in turn will more than likely damage your

nice new pistons.

Point taken!

yup thats exactly the problem mate its one big domino effect trust me been there done that lol

i have actually built engines to basically find the weaknesses and then progress with them

am pretty sure rich will tell you that aswell

as for std rods had a set at over 300atw safely after that would be lying

decided, forged pistons it is. Iv'e learnt alot from this project, the main thing is, theres no such thing as 'budget'

turbo conversions lol

i know a guy out you way running a turbo'd gti6 in a black 205, hes approx 320bhp on standard pistons and rods

(RGY) bottom end, so i can well believe the rods are up to the job

you've obviously not sat in the real black 205 hahahahah

RGY engines are harder to get now iv just fitted a complete engine one into a 205 tho lol

again tho i would still go down the line of proper pistons as on the rgy engine there more like t16 pistons and just sit below the bore not the best idea as stated earlier

... a seen your video on youtube chasing that evo! i had a mint RGY engine last year, sold it to a guy in Airdrie who

was doing a 8V turbo swap to a Blaze 6, pity i never kept a hold of it.

Btw, are the RGY pistons the same as T16? Someone told me that Ecosse's first GTi6 turbo (Nile, P306 GT iirc) was

running RGY pistons and rods, any truth in that one?

i mind that car when she was freshly built, complete with the chavvy 17's and bonnet vent, nice motor, always

liked her.

what rods did it have? Just curious. Dianne of ecosse said it was 269bhp with T3, but heard many different tales
