Ladies and gentlemen,

This may come as a shock to some of you (it’s come as a shock to me!), but my supercharged beast has changed hands, and now has a new owner.

The reason I’ve sold it was simply because she wasn’t getting used properly any more – I do around 40-50 miles a day to work and back, a lot of which is bumper to bumper crawling on the M27. It’s not really the sort of journey you want to undertake in a 400+ BHP supercharged 306 – despite it being 100% reliable for several years now, the fuel cost isn’t cheap, and paddle clutch etc isn’t designed for that sort of driving.

I have a little 206 1.9D which I’ve been using for the work commute for the last few months, and the 306 was then a weekend toy. The trouble with this is I now have to insure, tax, MOT, fuel and maintain two cars – which I can’t really justify given the current economic conditions etc, and I still can’t afford to use the 306 much or do trackdays etc – which is really where she belongs!

So, I made an extremely tough decision – and I let her go to someone that will use her properly and get the most out of everything that I’ve put into the car.

For those of you that know him, the new owner is Pete McGlashan, AKA pete_rallye on here. I wouldn’t sell it to just anyone, so I’m relieved it’s gone to a friend, and someone that has a passion for these cars. Most importantly, it stays in the 306gti6.com club!

I am extremely sad to see her go after all of these interesting years, however I know it was the right thing to do, I had taken the build as far as I wanted to, and wasn’t in a position to get what I’d put into the build.

With the car, Pete takes away a piece of history – the car formed the base and test-bed for the popular Rotrex supercharger conversions I’ve developed along with all the other various components.

Despite the above, my involvement here will remain unchanged – I won’t be going anywhere - I will still offer my technical advice and attempt to help out wherever possible, and I will offer exactly the same products and services as I always have done. So, although I don’t own a 306 anymore, I definitely still live for the 306!! So,

Look after her Pete!

Sad

Rich

Sounds like in the circumstances, a sensible decison.

Yeah - she's staying in the club (as per above).

I already miss her! As for getting another one, we'll see - but at least if I did decide to do it again, I know exactly what to do this time, without having to do everything numerous times until I achieved perfection Cool

Would it be rude to ask how much she went for? Or a rough figure? Thinking around 7-8k?

no a paddle clutch is a type of clutch

I still chuckle about the time you took me out and wasted that 911 on the M27 LOL

Flippin eck Rich,

did not think I would see the day that you would get rid of your 6, how many children has that car spawned? 50+?, can't see me ever getting rid of mine and still enjoy it every time I go for a blast, glad it's gone to a good home and not been broken, mine only gets used at weekends too and I can't afford track days anymore, Sad Hope you don't regret it too much and a big thank you for developing the supercharger kits in the first place, Thumbs up

Dave..

ps bet you build summit else eventually LOL

Sounds like a lovely car, glad it's went to a good home! 206 1.9D?? If you want to change that in future and I have a feeling you might as the non turbo'd diesels are horrendai, the 1.4hdi's are good, EPIC fuel consumption and are turbo'd at least. the 1.6 hdi's are FAP and aren't the best unless you give them a blast now and then.

Shes currently sat on my driveway waiting for the weather to change so I can 'test' her! Had a good run back up north though, although the intermittent setting on the wipers has become, kinda, a bit more intermittent! Think the contacts need a clean! She certainly is an animal though, I can see some good times ahead! She is even not bad on fuel, managing over 300miles to the tank!

My original plan was to strip and cage her, take her to the Nurburgring and set some new records, but a broken btcc 306, a kid due in April and house renovations may get in the way of that! I could always drop the engine into my btcc car, or I could just enjoy her as she is for now, which is what I am thinking.

Thanks go to Rich for his hospitality on Friday night, and for picking me up from Bournemouth airport after the craziest flight I've ever been on.

I'll keep you all updated with any changes...

It's not my place to disclose that, but you're in the right ball park.

The car was sold with a spares package, and a new rear beam and some other bits recently fitted - I think it's a fair deal for all involved, and i'm just glad it went to who it did.

Smile
