It appears the cam pulley shattered rather than the belt snap.

The inlet cam pulley is 3 pieces Sad the belt, tensioners etc are fine which is even more annoying. They appear to be the early pulleys

seems more an more common, hence why Peugeot changed the design.

Must be from over tightening of the 3 bolts plus the stress from the double valve springs, as you don't hear of it from the diesels that use a similar pulley.

I feel for you sir as my belt snapped very early. After its gone once its always in the back of my mind will it go again? Feels like they struggle to make 30k...

I guess how they are driven can determine the life expectancy of the belt?
