Hu guys, been thinking about an engine transplant into my stanndard 6. Getting hold of the 3.0 v6 from the 406 and all the bits isnt going to be an issue, was wondering wat you guys would expect to pay to have someone take my lump out and put this one in? Already started gathering some quotes but they seem steep to me! Also would the 220bhp engine fit becuase i no theres ment to be a specific engine to go for? Thanks in advance, Tom |

What kinda quotes have you been getting? Tbh it's the kind of job that if you can't do it yourself, buy a car with one already fitted. Jobs like that always go on forever, and paying £100 an hour indefinitely is just not the way to go. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

The 220 fits but you couldn't use the standard multiplexed wiring, hence the earlier engines are much easier to fit because they match the electrics of the "pre plexed" 306's. ________________________________________ '13 208 Gti Bianca White, '99 Bianca 306 Rallye, '92 309 Goodwood GTi 5dr, '92 Miami Blue 309 GTi 3dr. |

Buy a 406 3 litre then remove the shell and melt a 306 one over it. So much cheaper and you get more cabin space in a 306 without it being an estate.________________________________________ Black X Reg PIII.VGTi 6 A4212 pt 1 A4212 pt 2 Searching the streets of Bristol for 1.36p/day.Joint Kent Leader |

The D8 engine is the easy one to fit, with the std loom who ever has quoted 4k is in a world of there own, The only thing you need to watch is the ride height as the engine sits below the level of the subframe, other than that a quite neat job The one I have in a 309 looks like Factory, well better as it runs a aftermarket ECU inside the car so does away with the ECU under the bonnet. ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

I was assuming a normal basic install with belt and clutch kit, Having done the last one it's quite easy but as we now most people down fall is the wiring ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

The wiring is the simple bit after looking over it doing mine, just a pain as you've got to solder so many together. The clutch was the major pain for me.Its not worth doing for more than 2.5k I think. Yes its quick, yes it transforms the car, yes it does more mpg and yes its sounds farking lush, but really i'd be buying a faster car to start with for that kind of extra money. The two cars i've had since (UK impreza classic PPP and V70) are both quicker point to point and on track with similar suspension. They both cost about 3k to buy and modify too. The V70 doesn't quite have the handling but is a fair amount quicker/faster (no remap yet either). The impreza had better handling and was about as quick. If you need a new engine then do think about it seriously, but also think about breaking your car and buying something quicker. Or looking out for another, quicker 306 - if you can find a V6 one already then its a lot cheaper as they sell for peanuts. As long as its been done well that is ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

This also surprises me alot as well as i honestly don't think a standard v70 would beat a v6 306. The reason i say this is i left one of these v70`s (that was trying to be clever because i was in a van) in a brabus Mercedes vito VAN ok the van is mapped to 250 bhp and about 380lbft but it weighs about 10 ton and my v6 would blow the van away. Perhaps your v6 was not the best hence the reason you didn't have it that long and broke her (NO offense) They do go pretty well for what they are. Also my conversion cost around 4k by the previous owner (i would never pay that) Cheers. ________________________________________ Pugplus Peugeot parts specialists!!1000`s & 1000`s of new & used parts in stock International shipment Genuine Peugeot parts suppliers A range of Peugeot's for sale Contact info: Mob:07532066648 (richard) Email: pugplus@hotmail.com |

V6 went perfectly fine, only reason for breaking was adam needed wheels that worked properly at the time and could not afford to get the 306 fixed. It was dyno'd at 200 bhp 200 lbft, would have weighed around 1200 kilos. 163 bhp/ton, 163 lbft/ton.Adam's T5 weighs 1415 give or take a few, which iirc is 260 bhp, 254 lbft. 183bhp/ton, 179 lbft/ton. Impreza was a 99 UK turbo 2000 with most of a PPP pack, kerb weight circa 1235, 250 ish bhp/torques. All 3 had AST's of some sort. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

IMHO its not really a fair comparison as all three are completely different cars.________________________________________ Cherry Red 306 HDIChampionship White Integra DC5 Type R |

Yes it is a fair comparison as i've owned all three and all have similar FWD handling (the classic impreza is FWD biased handling-wise when you set it up).Depends how the 300BHp volvo has been created tbh as there quite a lot of '310'BHp volvos with about 260BHp. The impreza was 245 / 270, 1280kg but handled well (trust me they can handle very sweetly indeed) probably due to the balance being better. The volvo is now the quickest its ever been at 243BHp but its got a very flat torque curve with over 220lbft from 3k up its also 2wd so loads less trans loss than the impreza. It also corners very well, if a little too much grip and not enough feel. I broke the 306 because the new peugeot clutch fell apart after 5k miles, nothing to do with it running badly - it went well tbh. Was offered a FSH 110k impreza version 6 for £1500 from a very good source. I loved my 306, don't get me wrong, but my point was I wouldn't pay 2.5k for a V6 conversion on one. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

I'd also like to point out that unless they are really well looked after most ME7 volvo T5s won't be running anywhere near their proper power. Everything has to be bang tidy for the ECU to allow proper boost and timing. Its a pain in the arse, but honestly very good for not going bang. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |
