Just noticed recently with about 3/4mm tread left that in damp/dry/wet conditions and i drop the hammer the wheels are spinning up like madmen and the cars not moving anywhere! Almost everytime i pull away aggressively it just doesnt move anywhere, sits there making alot of noise! LOL

Is this normal for a RS2?

I expected more from this branded tyre tbh but then again i dont know why i should, they are £35 a corner.

Are these PE2's actually noticeably better?

I want my next tyre to have phenomenal grip - budget around £60 a corner

I had RS2's on my old car (granted different car and wheel) and they were awful, didn't rate them at all. Had the PE2s on the pug, very impressed in all weathers.

Clearly not a scientific test, but I've never heard a bad word about PE2s.

Hmm, im willing to try new tyres just dont want anything quite as bad as these have turned out to be....

I mean they are a mile better than a P6000 in the way they havent tried to kill me yet but, when i wana have some fun i wana be able to move the car!

I would still expect them to grip even with this level of tread, but theres nothing there!

Might have to try a PE2 then, they are around £52 each i think, not bad

Yeah my ageing ditch finders on the back of my 6 are horrendous in the wet - I almost lost it on a slip road the other day. Ive been a mug over the years going through mickey mouse tyres which on a Gti doesnt really make a lot of sense. Although in 55 profile the PE2's are very expensive at around a ton a tyre ive decided to try a pair. Theyre gonna last on the back so looking at it like its a bit of an investment.

My car runs about -30mm on fairly worn Bilstein B6s & Cyclones.

I went from 50 profile RS2 to 55 profile PE2 in summer conditions and gained a very marked improvement in dry traction. I can't say how much of that difference is due to using the right size tyre, though.

It's been cold recently, although not consistently, perhaps that affects the RS2 particularly. I'm currently on Dunlop Winter Sport 4D which I'm quite taken with. The different rubber of winter tyres seems to work better than summer tyres when it's cold, wet or dry. Maybe look into winter tyres?

P6000 were inferior in all conditions on a Golf I ran a decade ago.
