Would a new windscreen on the insurance make my claim go up next year?
If so does anybody know how much I'd be looking at for a new one fitted, and if there's any options like the solar tint that you see on some cars?
Thanks andy

shouldn't do, the tint thing is a standard phase 3 thing on high spec cars, costs a lot more though.

Do you think it will effect my insurance if I go through them with autoglass and just pay the excess?
Need one for the mondeo aswell as that got a stone hit it and crack the other day, that is way too dear to buy and I'll have to go through insurance
For that.
I've just realised, 2 windscreen claims at same time, they won't be happy lol, I use HIC but there a broker and there is 2 separate company's or each car.

why don't you ask them? may well have to pay extra if you haven't got the expensive screen in, phase 3's should have it as standard though so its probably been replaced already.

Not sure about insurance wouldn't of thought so, afaik they only pass on info accident claims.
Having the rain sensor clips adds to the cost too.
Got a new tinted screen last year though national windscreens for £135 .

Is that fitted? Sounds cheap, it's over £400 for mondeo I heard

Billy bargain!

About 2.5-3 hours from Kent, well depends
Where in Kent.
I'd just get the insurance to pay for it but with the mods I suppose if they was to put it up covertly because of it, they could charge what they wanted, which fair enough with the mondeo I canjust swap company's but the gti is limited in who will insure it I suppose.

Most insurance companies specifically state it won't affect your premium or no claims, but well worth checking in case Yes

For that price theresno point in giving the insurance company £75 excess.
The mondeo though, I'll have to go through insurance as it's heated, rain sensor, light sensor eg.

Thought I'd stick my 2p in here,

In my case it didn't put my insurance up, but it still counted as a claim when I came to renew. Apparently its on a claims database and as such now has to be declared whenever I start a new policy for the next 4 years. Nice.

Oh and they *tried* to withhold gaining that years no claims from me but I argued it stating that nowhere does it say that a new windscreen will void my no claim for that year. They gave in and I still got it in the end.

I claimed or the mondeo last year, it went up on renewal with an extra years no claims but nothing was mentioned, but it got me thinking that there may be a covert database about it or Somthing similair.

Just google windscreens in your area and phone a few companies. If you're struggling, I'll dig out the number for the place I used.
