I'm after a Track day helmet, not the purple headed womb ferret type Thumbs up

Medium I think will suffice.

Mate buy new, as on a track day my head sweats like f*ck as it's hot insid my car, so I wouldn't want a 2nd hand helmet, I dud buy a 2nd hand one as was used once I think but wasn't that much cheaper than a new one, omp one of eBay what you want

You've got a point Chris. I overlooked that fairly obvious flaw with a used one.

I want open faced so cjm_harris can lip read me in the mirror when I tell him to get the f*ck out of my way.

Don't know, just thought it would be more comfortable. Well, as comfortable ad someone my height can be in a car with minimal headroom as it is. Sunroof model ftw.

I would go with open face, I've been using my moto x helmet for the last couple of years and it's too restrictive, I've just bought a sparco pro jet in fancy red and white for a lot more than I wanted to spend but wanted a nice light weight one. Omp do a decent one for about £80 brand new.

I have an open-face one too, has the added bonus that you can actually speak to the passenger whilst in the car.

+1 for buying new. Other than the skanky sweat issue, helmets should be binned once they've been dropped on a hard surface or smacked into a roll bar, as they can get internal damage you can't see. Unless you've owned it from new, you don't know if that's ever happened so it could just be giving you a false sense of security.

It's your brain in there, it's not something that's worth skimping on IMO.

I got mine from Demon Tweeks, they were happy to send me it and exchange it if it were the wrong size, which it was. They even got the old one collected iirc.

Should be that easy, yes Yes

Only thing I found is that different manufacturers use different padding and measurements, and the difference between S-M-L is actually only a centimetre or two. My old cheap one was an XL, but the OMP I have now is a large.

I've wrapped a steel tape measure around my head and looks like a Medium/large in an OMP will suffice, but as you say, each manufacturer probably measures differently.

I'l dig out a cloth tape to measure properly. I would rather have a tighter fit so will go with a Medium if I am on the cross over measurement.

Might be easier to sand a few mil off your skull if it doesn't fit, collections and returns can be a fuss.
