hello, as some of you may know i have recently purchased a new gti as my beloved white one was destroyed by a w*nker of a lorry driver.

i dont have any pictures of it beforehand, i wish i had, but it was terrible, every pannel was scratched, it had rear lexus lights, a rear boot spolier straight from max powers bellend range, some naff vulgar wheels from wheel mania that he paid 600 quid for and curbed to fook. plus general unlovedness

mechanically its.....miles better than the original state of my white gti, just needed all four of its snapped bleed nipples replacing (one rear to go). anyways. i took a gloss roller and a tin of blackboard paint to it last night and i was.....impressed here are a few poor quality photos, see what you think.

i didnt clean/prime/mask and the finish is.....suprisingly good, almost perfectly smooth, just gave the original paint a quick rub to key it

didnt have long to wait LOL

are you going to leave it matt black or was that just an experiment? good luck with it! :thumbs up

ive done bright white now im going black Big grin

tbh under closer inspection you can see the blue coming through in places and where ive missed around bits i should of removed, but it has only been one coat, its still wonderfully smooth despite as i said no real surface preperation.

i used a small foam gloss roller, i havnt masked anywhere and ive been neat (former art student/sculptor). this was just a test/p*ss take to see what itd look like and im pleased.

I'm going to remove the rear windows, front and rear lights, side indicators and number plates and give it a proper going over with at least 4 coats. they were the only places my roller couldn't reach without painting said items.

works out at around half a liter per coat, and seeing at its 7 quid a tin its a pretty cost effective paintjob

yes secretly i love rat rod. i blame mad max 2, one of these days ill have exhausts out the side and a supercharger poking through the hood

No Sigma is the original paint colour name.

Every part of my being tells me i should hate it.... however...

It dont look that bad! Make more sense on a track shitter than a road car, but different none the less.

Get some OE lights in the front as well.

i dont plan on cleaning it :p, just a sand and a new coat every month or so. I was also a bit cheaky when i rang up the dvla, they hadnt sent/printed it since ive bought the car and i asked them if i can change it for free, they said yes Smile the lights have grown on me. Despite the boy racerishness they weigh less than oem and........i like em. Didnt realise a new set cost 150-200. Im going for the whole rat rod thing like my old 1.4. Was a lot cheaper, plus dirt hides dents

is it ?? really ??? may be easy from the angle that the prep doesn't need to be AS good as if it was going black but white is a pain i find as you cant see where you've been cos its so bright

i like the lights. but in all honesty, i would of preferred the blacked ones, i think chrome mostly looks takky.

got my wreck car back today. managed to salvage all the wheels minus two tyres Smile, spacers+extended bolts, rear lights, seats, parcel shelf+speakers+solarpanel, brake calipers, my single wiper bodge, boot lid+spoiler. a bunch of fuses and relays. and.......everything else is pretty...dead. engine is totalled Sad

just a bit miffed about the keys and the exhaust going missing.

never the less. i think i am going the take the......madmax(2) route with this one. strip it out. roll some arches, blackboard paint seem to be working incredibly well. i am very pleased with its finish after 3 coats. i might actually go ahead with my crazy ideas/inventions. hho, steam alternator, electric turbos.......... who knows

I was going to do this to my first car (mk2 polo) until I wrote it off. was going to go over it with blue or red chalkboard paint. I did chequered squares on my spare 309 bonnet with blue though. Half the squares in blue chalkboard, the other half rust. It's my festival bonnet. Big grin

We got bored one afternoon having a bbq...
