My sandwich plate sits between the oil filter and the heat exchanger. I'm sure there are a couple of guides on here on fitting them.
There are probably a few pictures of mine somewhere in my track car build, link in my sig. Smile

remove oil filter, fit sandwich plate, re-fit oil filter.

simples Smile

best way is to keep the heat exchanger, might need a short filter though.

if it'll fit.

that's how all the saxo+c2 works rally cars are done, means the oil warms up nice and quick, but when the oilstat opens the oil will cool sufficiently Smile

I'm on my pc now so have had a search for a few photos, can't find any great ones but here are a couple of mine:

I've never had any clearance issues with the normal filter supplied by Peugeot/AEP direct.

You need an extension nut to be able to fit both the heat exchanger and the sandwich plate....you fit the extension nut onto the nut that is already holding the heat exchanger on, and then the oil filter screws onto the extension piece after the sandwich plate.

to warm the oil up quicker, cold oil is just as bad as very hot oil.

The heat exchanger helps heat the oil up from cold, which is a good thing.

The mocal extension tube nut thing came with both my oil cooler kits, I'm not 100% sure but i think its the M20x2.0 version. It's worth double checking that before ordering.

I thought it was m18 but either way if u tell them the car it's for beforehand when ordering they send the right one.... At least that's what I did..... Dunno

I am, otherwise it would take ages for the oil to get upto normal temperature, which is bad for the engine.

During the cold months i put a blanking plate over the front of my oil radiator to stop air going through it, even though my sandwich plate has a thermostat it still allows a little bit of oil to go through the radiator circuit meaning it takes longer to warm up the oil.
