Hi guys,

Looking at suspension options and wondering if anyone's ever tried SPAX RSX on a 306? I need a high quality damper / spring assembly which I can chose my own spring options etc.

Also - anyone know the difference between the £450(ish) GAZ coilovers, and the £800 GAZ coilovers?

JP

From what I have read/been told, the words Spax and high quality don't usually go together.

Spas = pooh
Gaz = pooh
Kw = expensive
Ast = expensive
Billies b8!= win

Or save up your cash and get an ohlins set up about a grand a corner. You get what you pay for and unless you know how to set up the suspension properly it will handle like toss

Thumbs up

I know how to set suspension up... spent many years doing it for motorsport.

Billies aren't adjustable coilovers, right?

I've got gaz golds on my 309 and I'm very happy with them, it's running high spring rates and the ride is still very good. I think they're between £800-900 new but I've seen them second hand for less than half that. They're very good for the money and are far more capable than my driving abilities. Martin (crf450) did a sub 8:30 lap of the ring in mine first time out.
A lot of people say gaz are shit but I'm guessing they've only experienced the cheaper gha's or they're just regurgitating something they've read on the net.
You need to remember with adjustable coilovers that you can't just bolt them on and expect them to work. spring rates,ride height, damping/rebound all need to be played with and it goes without saying that the rest of the car needs to be up to spec (bushes, top mounts, tracking etc etc).

Just my 2 pence Big grin

I agree with Allanallen.... its not a level playing field... you do get what you pay for but get far more if you know what you are doing (I dont but have friends that do) I have run on Peugeot sport stuff for years and wouldnt want anything else as I dont see the point of blowing 1000 a corner on a 306 when my budget for the year is 4k to do some track days a road rally or a few hillclimbs... I have a mate running on Spax rsx on a 205 ( i have some on a project but never used) and he does trackdays with them and wont have a bad word said about them and he can pedal his car. they are adjustable ride height rebound etc and have a variety of springs to suit for far less than some of the others mentioned above. Spax (spaz) were crap a few years ago but so where the lesser billies. But if I was running a road and track day car Bilstien B8s would aslo be my choice but they wouldnt give what you are looking for in adjustability and experimental set ups.

But i take it people spending a k on suspension are buying cut sliks and have big brakes and minimal unsprung weight, and also surely not a daily driver???
