Hi there, need some advice as i am looking to put a different exhaust on my 6, at the moment it has a powerflow fitted which was done by the previous owner. I would like to put a magnex on but worried about a decrease in performance/torque/backpressure ect. I would like to know if the magnex system is a good choice and how it will affect the cars performance for better or for worse.

I also know there are two different sizes of magnex exhausts you can get, so can anybody give their opinions/explain the differences?

(i would assume a magnex system should be better than standard because it has been designed specifically for the 306 but i may be wrong....)

The only reason i am leaning towards a maganex is because i want the exhaust note to be better and louder

What would people reccommend as the best sounding??

AND NO, before you say it i'm not a chav, just want to get the best sound out of her Thumbs up

If anyone has any videos that would be awsome

Cheerz

i had a classic 3" magnex full system on my other 306, absolutely loved it. quality seemed brilliant and had no issues whatsoever. i know magnex went bust/restarted and the systems they produce now look different but not sure how the quality compares

i wouldnt say rath, im not annoyed, i actually found it quite funny Big grin i guess you meant that the magnex is a purpose built performance system, whereas the standard one is ...well, standard. but dont underestimate peugeots own work, they actually made some very good parts on the gti6

have you tried searching? theres loads of info already on the forum that may help you, like this for example. i know ive been no help with the magnex part of your question but then ive not had a magnex so wouldnt know, but i do think the standard system is too underrated.

Yea man, i've had a look on all previous exhaust posts but want specific information on the magnex setup, i understand the standard exhaust is perfect for the car but just want to make it sound abit nicer ! Besides i'm not actually replacing standard, i'm replacing a powerflow! Thanks for your help anyways Wink

Had a Magnex on mine for 20 minutes then took it off. Looked awesome, horrible noise.

Induction noise FTW!

What size system / tailpipe is your current exhaust Tom?

Magnex are loudThumbs up

Just took mine off and fitted a Scorpion, sounds nice but not loudWink

The Magnex at around 2800-3000 rpm is way too loud for a daily car IMOThumbs down

So that makes you travel at 80mph everywhere just so you can hear your stereo! No

I bought one of the newer magnex systems.
It is loud and it's not a very good fit at the backbox, it would need the brackets welding on to make it fit perfect.
I still have it if your interested.

I have a 3" rolled in magnex. Looks lovely. It really isnt that loud. Much noisier when run with a decat though. If you want a more subtle tone that isnt boomy, look into longlife pipes. Had one of those too and it was much the same volume as a magnex but not as bassy a note. One good thing about the magnex pipes is the backbox is 316 stainless so dont tarnish with road salt like some others.

Magnex are loud but sound nice with or without a decat.
I found mine a little raspier and louder with a magnex decat fitted.

Was great for blasts and weekends, but gets annoying for day to day driving and as said 55 - 70 mph will make your ears bleed LOL 80 mph was better, 90+ was bearable! Yes
I had the 4" backbox fitted.

Had mine for around 3 years and had no problems with splits, leaks or fitting.
Took it off in the end though as was doing lots of miles and it was just too much to bear Crazy

I have some links in my sig to some vids, this is with the Magnex fitted and a K&N 57i filter fitted, no decat Smile

Had the 3'' rolled in magnex for around 8 months a while back and the lasting impression was resonating through the rev range booooomy on the M'way it melted couple of rubbers dropping the mid pipe and snapping where it was welded to the midbox. Would never buy again !
Race tube with the genuine back box sounded nice and raspy.

Now running a race tube with a remus back box great fit and quite on the M'way sounds Love ly when giving it the beans Whistle

Does the silencer material that Magnex use, still become molten shrapnel and fall into the bottom of the silencers? Both my 205s had the same problem. From new the exhaust sound was great but ended up embarrassingly loud after a few months of hard driving.

Razz

seen one of his systems on a 205 with a gti6 system in and it sounded great, so much quieter than the usual aftermarket stuff which tends to be excessively loud, but still has a purposeful note.

its all about the induction note anyway Big grin
