I am looking a buying either a 1998 306 GTI6 or a 2002 307 XSI. Both cars are in the same condition and have similar KMs 130,000 KM. If both are in the same condition which with be more expensive to run (with the exception of fuel). And what would you guys get?Cheers, Jimmy |

Thanks for the responses guys! What are the common problems with 306 GTI6's? Pretty much everything nowadays Cambelt failures, rear beam failures, bit of rust (maybe not so much in Aus) suspension bushes wearing Generally aside from the cambelt issues the engine and gearboxes are pretty good if looked after - the rest of the car will probably fall apart before you break down ________________________________________ Cherry Red 306 HDIChampionship White Integra DC5 Type R |

If you want a classic French GTi go for the '6, its a really great car to drive. If you want something for picking up the kids form school and doing some shopping, the 307.http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=64509 make sure the 6 has been looked after and serviced properly. ________________________________________ Spanner Monkeys Monkey SpannerForum Search Clicky |

Get some pictures up. Despite most owning one, we all secretly like to see another. |

GTi6 all the way.I imagine the 307 will feel bloated and slow by comparison! Im about to take mine out for a nice boxing day roasting! She loves it! ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6? |

My friend has 307 2.0. Compared to my 306 it is bigger, much higher siting place, feels like sitting in a plane, quiter, much more comfortable ,better on mpg, much more relaxing to drive, has so much space for all your things, even a special place for glasses , easy to find parts. I would never ever buy one, ever! Gearbox sucks ,engine is so boring, feels like a diesel ,ride is soft, steering very light and lifeless. Driving fast with that car is like cutting tree with a hammer |
