saw this - clicky about the E10 fuels and how cars that aren't compatible will be stuck basically. not sure how likely this is to continue

also noticed here no XU peugeots are compatible LOL

infact i have changed my mind and i am not arsed, because it's such a small amount that i bet my gti6 will be on a scrap heap before i have issues

you'll be fine, you have plastic fuel lines, the only metal components are the pump, fuel rail, and injectors.

seals can be replaced.

big load of scaremongering basically.

Wouldn't worry about it tbh, my 1.4 has had nitrometh and allsorts through it and the seals are still going fine LOL

Normal unleaded will definitely go up, whilst this will be introduced at nothing less than unleaded is at the time. The only difference in running will be that on ridiculously cold mornings it might be a little slower to start... 'bout it really...

At work we are quite concerned about this increasing percentage added. We do Aston Martin restoration, along.with other classics. We're quite worried about how it will all play out.

Especially as the cars may be sat without being driven for sometime. Fuel tanks are also a source of concern, both for cars and bikes too. A fair few lads at work have classic British bikes, they're pretty concerned

Yeah, we've looked at additives, but it isn't an option for a lot of customers. It's a shame it seems to be overlooked by the majority at present.

surely a restored vehicle will have new fuel system parts made from modern materials which will cope just fine?


it'll be much the same as running race fuel, as that has a fairly high ethanol content to bump the octane rating up.

Was looking into this a little, interestingly in a more detailed graph I've found our cars have an exception for e5 too, which means that we technically shouldn't be using Tesco 99 as its e5. I'm not sure how much of an effect it has however.

So all Pug/Citroen are E10 compatible from 1st January 2000 according to that list then...Smile

Anyone know if my 2005 model GSXR1000 will be ok off the top of your head? Unsure

Stan when I found the above link I did see one thing about bikes. but it was pretty much brand names and then all since 97 etc. I'll see if I can get it now.

So does that mean a late phase 3 will be ok whereas my 99/v phase 3 won't? Doesn't make sense Dunno

Personally. I'd say no. I doubt they accounted for the fact the gti6 ran until then
