After the heavy rain, I've found damp patches on the roof lining at the top of the b pillar. Also the os rear footwell is damp where does it usually come from and how can it be stopped? It's a sunroof model. |

Gutters in sunroof, my DT does it after sitting under a tree for 9 months! Get a long piece of stiff wire and poke it through. Then test with a cup of water. Best to sort it quick or risk a rotten roof!________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

How do you get to these gutters? Won't have a garage to keep it in until late January! |

open the sunroof and in the front corners you will see the gutters/expelling water thingy majigs (this name confirmed on servicebox), these are the things you must clean out, and the lead to just behind the front wings.________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

mechanical_repairs wrote: Also re seal the aerial base, very common. Carl Would this cause the rear well behind the drivers seat the get wet though? Just been outside, my coat hanger wouldn't go down the holes, presumably its to thick and doesn't have enough give to turn corners. I poured 1/2 pint of water down each one though and water was exiting under the car at a decent rate. Did find a small tear in the door seal though, I can;t see how it would explain a very damp carpet at the back though...The seal doesn't look like it fits well, it seems an inch too short so isn't tight around the whole door, one place will always be lifting away. Here's a pic of the tear. |

like has been said before. its either your aerial seal or sunroof seal. check their condition and replace if needed. i cleaned then greased up my seals on my 1.4 roof, that helped and was free/easy to dothat door seal tear may be letting in some water. but i wouldnt think enough to get to the roof. are the carpets wet around the bottom of the door seal? if so it may need replacing i know you said this happened after heavy rain so its more that likely the seals but the other possibility is your rear washer line is leaking? i think it runs on that side. have you been using your rear washer jet? does the water inside smell or have any discolour to it? has your washer bottle been emptying quickly? good luck with fixing it ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

Exactly same happened on my 106 mate...Pulled back the roof lining above the drivers side to see the underside of the sunroof corner - it was totally rusted and where the drain pipes beginning at the sunroof and ending up down towards the drivers foot well was blocked. The water gathered in the corner of the sunroof, rusted and rotted through the bodywork, straight onto the lining. This soaked the lining and down the A-pillar, into the footwells on the drivers front and rear sides. £60 later at the bodyshop where it was resealed and rebuilt and I've had no problems since ________________________________________ Pugzy...aka MikeEx-Platinum silver 306 GTi6 owner...now an Ex-Scarlet Red 406 3ltr V6 Coupe owner too Now driving a China Blue 106 1.5 Diesel..."The Money-Saving and Debt-Busting Machine" |

That damp patch will be where the rubber pipe meets the metal work of the sunroof, get under the roof linging and stick a jubile clip on it. I done it on my old dt too. ________________________________________ My GTi6 track projectWhite Rallye project |
