Also, while I had it, I always wanted more power even though it was much quicker than a 6. I eventually got bored with it and got another 6 which rolling roaded at 176bhp which im much happier in and dont want to chase more poke as its good enough all round. 24seven wrote: Power isn't everything... its not.. mx5 is a great example.. but a step down or side step for most people in power isnt what they'd like. Power is not everything, very true in my case if my car was any quicker I would rarely be able to plant it, were as in the 6 I feel like a gardener ________________________________________ Aka ManstonerAka Clio dumper Aka PrinceofPeugeot Aka Decat raspberrys |

I would definitely buy one of these, if they were only available and I had the money. Awesome looking car, and I bet 197bhp is more than enough for road. Shame it's that a stoopid Suburu boxer engine, hopefully it'll be easier to reliably tune than a Scooby, but probably not. This car + Rockingham + rain = win ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

What's wrong with boxer engines? There are a lot of good reasons for them. Another example, if it was all about power then why are 205's still so popular? Even an Mi16/GTi6 converted 205 is matched by a half decent turbo diesel in a straight line, but they're still sought after for how fun they are. Hell, you'd hardly say a base model Caterham with a 90bhp 1400 k-series is slow and boring would you! This BRZ/GT86 thing is supposed to be a driver's machine. ________________________________________ Ph1 306 GTi 6 | RX8 231 S1 | YBR 125 Cafe Racer | MT-03 660 |

Everyone I've ever spoken to who does such things have said the Suburu engines are harder to tune reliably compared with, say, Mitsubishi's 2.0 from the Evo. I am willing to be corrected, but that's always tallied up with the kind of results I've seen from both. Plus it's a pain in the arse to change the spark plugs ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Manufacturer's aren't concerned with what aftermarket tuners want to do to their cars. Taht doesn't make them bad engines.________________________________________ Ph1 306 GTi 6 | RX8 231 S1 | YBR 125 Cafe Racer | MT-03 660 |

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not saying they're *bad*, they just offer very little flexibility should you decide that the standard power isn't enough. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Plugs are fun on a scooby. Took me ages on mine. Not too bad to tune but needs a remap to do pretty much anything. Eg. Decat etc. Dammed reliable too. My car gave no problems at all in the 14 months I was away from gti6's. Hopefully this new car will drive like a stock subaru should. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |
