Seems a little optimistic considering the state of the economy, is this serious?

fair enough, but the ring wasnt built to get chavs off the street like the article supporters claim. perhaps brooklands might be similar to the history of the ring but looking at the costs and the dreaded city slickers who commute back to leafy green countryside would never allow it, as illustrated by motorsport venues countrywide being lost or oppressed into noise constraints, limited use, ie dates and curfew times aka castle combe rockingham. I cant see it would ever get off the ground with all the green tree huggers in this country never mind owains comment about the economy.

Sorry, but wouldnt be unhappy if I was wrong...

Completely agree it'd be awesome, but there's just absolutely no way it would ever even be considered. Doesn't matter how many votes it gets, Parliament clearly wouldn't debate it because it goes against about everything modern society has to be seen to be standing for.

I dont know whether its a joke or for real, either way it would get laughed out of the house of commons. Places like the ring dont just pop up willy nilly, the rings earnt its reputation the hard way, claiming countless lives and establishing itself as a real driving test for god knows how many decades. For any country to suddenly decide to go and build a 14 mile race-track on the flimsy grounds of 'increasing road safety by increasing driving skills' is pretty f*cking ridiculous. Driving skills and standards are totally different, driving on a race-track does not suddenly make you stop cutting people up/pulling out in front of people/hogging the middle lane etc etc etc. If you wanna increase your car control, then i agree, go do some trackdays etc, but sadly its not car control thats the issue over here, its driving standards which are appalling and the only way around that is a massive overhaul of the driving test (f*ck knows what they teach these days, but the first rule i ever got taught was - stick to the left!) or make it compulsory to sit numerous IAM and advanced driving courses - which wont happen either.

But i will sign the petition...................just in case LOL

I can just imagine an influx of track cars wearing fancy lightweight wheels and shiny parts coming into Rotherham, they do it every day at the minute anyway.
Then leave in boxes via ebay.

Well obviously rotherhams IQ is a lot f*cking higher than i remember, last time i did an IQ test it was 119 so Flip Half of rotherham are borderline retards, so there must be some clever bas**rds knocking around to raise the average so drastically LOL

"So then, shall we stop banks giving themselves million-pound bonuses with public money? Na, they're all our mates. Shall we add on extra car tax on new cars? Yeah, sounds good. Extra fuel duty? Yeah definitely. Do anything about rising fuel bills? Na."

"I put it to the honourable Speaker that we should build a f*ckoff big racetrack in the middle of the countryside. How much fun would that be, fellow Lords?!"

Can't see it personally.

That'll never happen at the moment, not while there are 2 million people without a permanent home and hundreds of thousands of homes sitting empty needing investment from the government.......

It would definitely get laughed out of the House of Commons, the price of land nowadays would mean it would cost an absolute fortune!!

Seems quite impossible to be honest. And i'm saying this as a somewhat local to the Ring. It's a little more than an 1 hour dive from my front door. And still the Ring isn't doing very well finacially in the last years. Although i don't understand how as come spring that place seems overcrowded with petrolheads from around the world, they still seem unable to cover all the expenses. How long have they been building that rollercoaster that is supposed to go through the Ringwerk? A racetrack in the dimensions of the Ring is unthinkable. On the other hand i think you Fellas in the UK are not getting away too bad when i see the number of little circuits and trackdays that are organized around the country. We would definately need something like Silverstone here in Luxembourg. I bet it would generate a lot of money.

And the M45 and M49.

M48 is best as it's straight on English side to the tolls. Anybody want to see how fast their car goes......
