Will the 6 run on 4 star petrol as I spotted a petrol station in Kensington that sells it.

I used to own a 205 gti which could run on both unleaded/leaded but when filled with unleaded the car felt numb in comparison, I'm just wondering if it may have the same effect on the 6.

I should think you would get an extra 40 bhp, 50 if you fold the seats down as well

Roll eyes Folding the seats down just improves handling due to lowering the centre of gravity, it also helps to fold the front seats down as much as possible and you look cool too Yes You are right about the extra 40Bhp though

Don't put it in if you have a catalytic converter as it will damage it. I don't think it has any power advantage over unleaded as the octane rating would be similar.

5 star used to be what is now termd super unleaded.
There is a limited number of outlets of leaded fuel to cater for the classic car market.
Or at least there used to be.

By the Hilton in Olympia.

Look guys if you never used to own a 205 GTI when 4 star was around your comments are invalid.

As said 4 star leaded petrol used to give my 205 a good bit of welly and felt noticeably down on power when using any of the unleaded variety regardless of octane potency.

I want my threads to be filled with valuable information not a game of tits and tats.

My D reg 205 used 4 star many years ago. Well, I say mine but it was my dads and I could drive it better than him when I was 12

If it did, don't you think someone might have tried it since they've been around for over 12 years? Why not give it a go, knock yourself out.

Might just pay a fiver so I can report shit threads Hmm

You mean you have no idea so deem it a shit thread Shock

What does the manual say?

Your 205 would need to be tuned to the different petrol so maybe that's why it felt flat. Mine worked best on super rather than 4 star.

I used to put 4 star in my old C reg 309, then I tried super unleaded and it ran a lot better, you could run either but had to get it tuned, the car had a carburettor and the timing could be altered by moving the distributor,

You could decat your car and "maybe" run 4 star, not sure what long term effect the 4 star would have on your valves, but you would get more benefit using 99 octane super unleaded.

I like thinking outside the box, but maybe this is too far out of the box LOL , remember the fuel shortages years ago when the refinery's where blockaded? plenty of people put 4 star in their unleaded cars then and resulted in loads of fooked cars.
