I've got an annoying creak which sounds like it;s coming from the offside front, it happens when gently coming off the accelerator pedal and also when turning from lock to lock(stationary and slow speeds). Some times it's just one very quiet knock and other's it's more like 3 little creaks. Sometime's it will also do it when i'm travelling along very slowly ~2mph.

Does not happen at high speeds or when travelling over uneven ground.

The annoying thing is the car has recently had:
- top mounts and dampers
- complete wishbones
- rose jointed droplinks

All the wishbone bolts are tight, arb clip things look to be seated correctly. No play in the wheels at all if i grab them at 12 and 6 or 3 and 9 oclock. If you jack the car up then turn the wheel it doesn't do it.

I'm pretty stumped? TRE?

i would say you've got two problems, as above i would say the creak is the top engine mount (search for chassis repair, unless you have already read it)
dont know aht the knocks will be when turning and traveling at slow speeds

If it was the top engine mount I would expect it too clunk every time I brake or accelerate though, it's only slow speeds, there's no clunk on gear change etc when hammering it.

If the balljoint pinchbolts have been over tightened they can stretch the holes they go into and cause some movement/creaking. Or as said you may have more than one issue. But I'd nut and bolt check the entire front end, should'nt take that long really.

I agree with Jim, with torque wrench I must add!

The BJ holes dont tend to go on the 18mm hubs, unless some right gorilla has been at them, the earlier 16mm arent as resilient.

Tend to notice it in wayward steering over ruts+power/torque shifts (i.e lift off or boot it) didn't have any creaking however.

Hmm, the hubs are 16mm.

At one point I did think the car was a bit twitchy when going over ruts e.g. crossing the center of the road. But after going out at the weekend the handling is fantastic, very sure footed. I think the earlier worries were just caused by really bad roads.

cheers anyway, think I might need to start researching rack related noises...
