ive seen sum 15inch slicks for sale for my 1.9 gti rims. i run a gti6 205 with bilstein tarmac dampers an 24mm arb on back. would my car take the punishment of slicks on it on the track? just wondered weather to purchase them as they are cheaper than r888.

Buy them. If they are the right size and not too hard a compound, they will be soooo much better than a 888.

Not all tracks will allow you to run slicks, so I would check on that front first.

springs wont be stiff enough for slicks then, guess you're on standard torsion bars too?

You really need at least 7" wide rims for 200 width slicks which are the most popular, 185's will be fine on std 6" rims.

Thicker TB's and at least 350lb front springs will help get the best from the slicks.

It's not the tracks that won't accept slicks, but some trackday operators won't let you use slicks unless you have a roll cage; most will though.

A standard(ish) car won't get the best out of slicks but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them.
