The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fecking temperamental.

I paid £2200 for a sub 50k GTi 6 wth 4 previous owners that is in 'good' condition. Subsequently I spent £500 sorting the suspension LOL

It's worth what anyone is willing to pay for it tbh. If it's as good and legit as you say and requires little work, I don't see why you shouldn't ask for anything less than £2000.

The vast majority of these have had a rebuild at somepoint..... first one I ever had spat its dummy at 40k and had its engine replaced by peugeot, then did it again at 66k. Its still going strong now. Second one I had also did a belt at 40k but looks like it was still on its original belt in 2008 Doh that was a 1 owner car on 46k when I bought it last year.... shouldn't make any difference as long as its been done correctly.

If it's nile blue, that's the one "G." on here owns. I can't remember where he got it though, pretty sure it was down south somewhere though? He bought his car with 44k miles or so on the clock.

Neither of mine had had a rebuild before, although like John said *IF* its a decent job and its been done properly then it should be a problem.

Just find it a bit odd that it wasn't mentioned in the first post and you've started threads wanting a block and advice on torque settings for the head - which would imply you've DIY'd it.

From his thread - Block wanted....

ive had a cambelt snap just built the top end. the cambelt tensioner pulley has snapped the block were it sits on to. sush a shame as the car only done 65000 just the bare block will be fine.

No

Nah, the one I am reffering to was a China.

Mileage on these isnt as important as them being regularly looked after and cared for. I would rather have a car on 100k that's just had a belt, got FSH and had a suspension refresh than one on 50k thats got patchy history (not implying thats your car by the way Mick1989)

So who repaired it? As Benn said, no mention of that in the OP?

So was the broken tensioner mounting lug repaired, or was the block replaced?

Just thought it was odd you didn't mention it before, as surely if its been rebuilt properly and had new head gasket and cambelt kit thats a plus point.
