Need to check this...

Car is phase 3, but I think when the engine was replaced before I got it, it has a ph2 engine.

Will check tonight.

Have a nosey on the block for the year stamp.

There is a chance it could be cobbled together with a host of different parts for the original engine, so look at the cam covers for the stamp there also. If they tally up it's a strong possibility that it is going to be mostly that year.

The one the block is at the front, bottom to the right of the oil filter. Whip the undertray off if you are blessed to still have one. They are quite prominently stamped near the J4RS bit, so even with dirt you should see it otherwise a wipe with some brake cleaner will show it up. If you can make out the engine number at the same time I will be suprised. They rust over.

On the cam cover, it is underneath the coil pack cover on the recess. There is a small dial with the year stamped in there.

Thanks Dan, will check it out.

Even if they are the same, it could still be that the rest is phase 2?

I know the phase 3 (crank sensor I think) wasnt the right one. Unless the guy sent me a phase 2 one Doh

Don't bother looking at dates on the block and/or cam covers. It could quite easily have had the ECU loom changed, block changed, cam covers changed or whole engine changed.

Look at the MAP sensor plug. If it has square edges with a metal clip then it's phase 2. If it has rounded edges with a plastic clip then it is phase 3. There are no half-way house looms, it will be either phase 2 or phase 3, which will dictate which sensors you have.

Have you looked at my breaking thread? Not 100% if the MAP sensor I have is the same? The plug is rounded as yours but there are a few differences, mine seems longer?
