Is it possible? One of the actual bearings is knocking, but I've got no idea how they're assembled and whether I can just replace the bearing without having to pay for a whole new mount, or whether it's one of these things that's been forced together in a bearing press and it never going anywhere.

Annoying.

Cool, I'll try and find somewhere locally. When you say "press the old one out", that would imply it needs a bearing press? I.e. would I be best just taking the whole thing somewhere and getting it sorted, or can I remove the bearing and just take that down to get a replacement?

"Bearing" in mind I don't have a press.

they usually just push out by hand afaik, indeed I'd try just taking it out and taking it along to a supplier, or looking online.

Since they're fooked anyway, I'm sure a bit of gentle persuasion from a hammer will help things along...

Right, time to get this sorted.

Spoox want £26 for a new bearing, and I'm assuming that's ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately I live in Chelmsford, where financial services and people in suits rule the streets, but someone who sells nuts and bolts is nigh on impossible to come by.

Does anyone know the specific name and dimensions of the bearing I'm after? Does anyone know where I can order them online?

Any help would be much appreciated, if I'm going to have to drive round for hours I might as well just pay the £26 and get on with my life.

Cheers
O.

2 track days, Christ they must be cheap old Rose joints, if you can get them out you may find some info on them, If so then it's easy to sort

They were second hand, I blame Chris Harris, the lying scamming bas**rd Roll eyes

That's the annoying thing, if I take the old one out I'm then stuck with a car in pieces on the driveway until I can source another; if I just buy a replacement from Spoox I can whip the old one out, stick in the new one then use the old one to source better replacements for next time.

It will be easy, don;t forget there's loads of different qualities of bearings too so I would go for the best one of the lot even if it costs more

Well that's the tricky thing, I found places that do bearings, and they also do "heavy duty", "extra heavy duty" and the suchlike, however that's clearly all subjective.

As you say, probably just get the measurements and see what's available for a sensible price without paying £500 for titanium ones...

Right, I have ze bearing. Conveniently it has the part number printed on it.

It's an ELGES GE20FW. According to docs I found, these are the dimensions:

Bore: 20mm
W: 25
H: 16
D; 42
STATIC LOAD (NEWTONS) RADIAL: 51,000

I've checked the sizes with the s**tty ruler I have here and they certainly seem to be right. Fortunately there's a place that sells this exact bearing just up the road to me, they'll be calling me back shortly with prices Thumbs up

O.
