I reset my ecu on friday and left the car until monday, now when idling the engine seems to rock about and I can hear and see popping out of the exhaust. It only does this on idle and stops when warm. There is no loss in performance.________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

No over pressurising of coolant/loss of, changed fuel filter today and filled up with Vpower, went and got the car nice and warm on a lovely B road and the missfire didnt happen when idling and there is definatly no loss in performance or missfiring through the rev range? The Exhaust sounds like its blowing though?Still stumped, be up at Carls when i get paid i think! The head sounds a tiny bit Tappy as well :S sounds like a lifter isnt filling up. ________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

A lifter not filling up would cause a misfire, but lifters failing is not common on these engines. Have you checked it has oil in it?________________________________________ 205 GTi6 - work in progress |

My god this car is doing my head in at the moment, a relatively noisy top end and misfiring still!! What else can cause a misfire?________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

Dude, check the plugs - one is probably loose. Do another ecu reset. Leave it a long time...________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Ill have a quick gander friday when i have the day off, how long should i leave the ECU to reset for? Ive just never really played around with petrols before, id be thinking of stuck open injector, air in the fuel etc for a Derv. ________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

When it running try unpluging each sensor, coil pack, injector one by one ( reconnecting each one before you try the next one ) and see if it makes a difference. If it does its not that. If you unplug something and it carries on running as it was it could be that. Unplug a coil pack then start it though just on case I would check the spark plugs are tight first though. ________________________________________ How to do a clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

Usually the plug nearest the cam cover and its undone by like a quarter turn. Nothing like the volvo for this. Shocking these ME7 alloy heads... ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Cambelt cover mate? Its really intermittent but i shall try and unplug the coil packs. Itll be going to Carl next week if its not sorted regardless assuming that its a sensor. Im so twitchy tightening spark plugs into an ally head, ive not got a torque wrench with me and im slightly heavy handed!________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

Just go gentle. More importantly just try them to make sure they are not loose.________________________________________ How to do a clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

Try undoing them by hand with no ratchet first and you'll know if one is loose. Yes meant belt cover. For the 15 minutes of buggering about its worth it. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Definatly mate i will crack on now!Another thing has came to my attention, i currently have a Halfords oil filter on the car, however many people say that you shouldnt run the car without an oil filter that doesnt have a non-return valve. This could cause the lifters to not receive the oil they need could it not? Also i run 10w-50 Silkolene Pro-S. ________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

The one nearest the cam cover was loose! So i have tightened that up, they look very worn for the limited mileage they have done. The only one i havent been able to check is the plug in cylinder 2, as the allen head bolt that holds the coilpack in has rounded off and i dont have any molegrips with me!!________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

quite a few have had bad experiences with Bosch, I stick to NGK's, the boggo off the shelf ones listed for this engine are twin electrode and come in at a tenner.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

First time ive had no money to at least do an oil and plug change!!! But you was right in that respect Adam! However its still missing, im guessing with the v groove electrode worn down then maybe the plug gup is now too large!Ill ring the stealer and get plugs and filter. Im also going to go for a 5w-40 oil for winter time, im doing seriously short journies recently and its not helping at all! O and you are both welcome to work on her again if you are so inclined . ________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |
