Hello fellow forum members,

So while i was checking out Peugeot ServiceBox yesterday for a few parts numbers and prices, i checked out what the above mentioned engine looks like in therms of fixation points/cradles and to my astonishment it seems like the usual 3 points as used on the XU10J4RS.

These engines are supposed to be lighter, more economical, are turbocharged and easily tuneable to 210bhp as these can be found in the new cooper S JCW.

This is just a thought, i am definitely not the most mechanically gifted person on here, but i know that we have a lot of very bright and mechanically gifted members on here who made/designed/produced other grate projects and parts. So i would like to hear their thoughts about this

So, go have a look on SB and tell me if it's just me or does the engine mountings look almost identical to the ones on the GTI6??

Comments as always welcome Smile

Sure I heard somewhere about it being an XU block. Might have been imagining that bit though Dunno

yup, they will be pretty close, nothing a little bit of welding+fabrication can't sort if they are not.

your main issue with this engine is the management, as its a FBW, VVT, Variable vane Turbo charged, Direct injected engine, variable inlet valve lift as well I believe, for certain on the n-a engine, not sure on the thp version.

so you can imagine you'll need a complex ecu and one hell of a mapping session LOL:

Isn't this completely new engine, built in a joint venture with BMW, or maybe I imagined that to.

The engine was indeed build together with BMW, that's why it can be found in all the Mini cooper s and jcw.

The 6 speed gearbox also seems much smaller than the ones on the 6, which would improve the turn in.
Would love to see what difference it would make on a 6/Rallye Hmm

yup, called the Tarmac here I think?

the prince engine shares some basic architecture with the TU engine, but that's about as close as it gets afaik, it was indeed developed with BMW, it'll be used by SAAB next year, if they build any cars.
