306crazy wrote: The 306 is by far the better drivers car but as for everyday the golf is more managable. The 6 got loads of compliments when people got in it,but the golf gets more for its looks. Its not alot quicker in the straight but i cant denie the 6 is the better handling its just not for me as everyday use ie short journeys. Plus you can get 400bhp for as much as you'd spend supercharging a 6 you say 400BHP but there are many types of 20v turbo engines..... E.G the mark 4 golf had a cable operated throttle and the later engine had the fly by throttle if yours is the cable operated then i hate to break it to you but your not goning to get much more than your running now as these require a chip putting in the ECU and cant be taken past a stage one. the ibiza had a different 20v turbo engine to the golf like i said there are several different types of 20v T engine |

Best ones are the agu's there the 98 models i think so the earlyer ones are the better ones.As for the mk4 iv'e had mine a week now and it feels so much nicer to drive then the 306 doesnt handle better but the hole car feels better in some way. |

so if your saying yours is cable control throttle you will not get any more power than it is currently producing and i would even question the dyno printout for that TBH.i dont doubt that decent figures can be achived from certain variations of these engines as i know a guy with a leon cupra R which was dyno'd last week at 389 but alot of money has been spent on the engine and gearbox in the region of 12k, but as previously mentioned his started life as 225bhp with fly by (electronic) throttle so can be tuned to decent figures if you plan on wanting more power than you have now better get saving for a later MK4 (2001 onwards i believe) with fly by... IMO the MK4 golf 20v T is on the verge of becoming a chav car, it has a turbo and because of that and the fact it sneeze's young people think there amazing, the early scoobys suffered a similar fate, unfortunatly they hit a price band where young people can afford them and unfortunatly that brings the reputation of the car down although at least the scooby was a good car to start with.....unlike the golf these are just my opinions though |

If you go on the Golfgtiforum.co.uk not that you'd really want to you'll see what i mean about agu's and whatever.Fair point on the chav thing though most drug dealers own golfs i believe and you also see alot of twats in mk5 gti's thinking there the shit |

306crazy wrote: You cant say anything about understated?? You had a mint lookin sigma and sprayed it yellow :/ Well i think that sundance is a great colour, i'm disappointed they didn't have it as an option on the hatch. Always thought it looked great on the cabriolet and the 106 gti. The colour of the car doesn't necessarily mean that it is no longer understated. ________________________________________ 2005 Peugeot 206 GTI 1802008 BMW K1200R |
