If the xsara vts has a slightly higher final ratio in 5th than a gti6 in 6th that would mean that 6500rpm would happen at a higher speed than in a gti6. I wonder how this plays out on the road as this would require more torque to reach the same speed. If a gti6 won't go 1mph over peak power then the gti6 gearbox final ratio has been fine tuned for optimum. Terminal velocity? My logic says that if you could "dial in" digitally a higher ratio like you could on gran turismo 4, anything higher than standard would result in a lower top speed as there would not be enough torque. Let's not forget that peak torque happens lower down in the rev range and that "power" does not exist. It is only a calculation figure as the result of where torque occurs in relation to rpm. ________________________________________ |
