yup, as ash said its the RFY engine as used in the S16, Phase2 405Mi16 and some xantia vsx's.

mechanically they bolt together and have much the same parts, suspension is uprated over the 306 stuff, and has much quicker steering rack.

you wont go far wrong reading all the faq's on the forum, there are a few S16 specific ones iirc.

not many of these left now, some have rusted badly underneath, others died of age and neglect, and probably a few have been engine donors!

mine runs a mild inlet cam in an RFS engine, i.e the gti6 lump, plus the larger brakes (which dont fit under the standard wheels)

can these engine run ok on carbs or is it too much hassle? this wont be a daily driver so im not worried about fuel consumption etc. whats the best way to go about it as i cant justify the cost of throttle bodies management etc

I wouldnt bother with carbs, throttle bodies or a supercharger is the way forward.

i dont think i could justify the 2k plus tag for those items alone. i dont intend to go mental on engine tuning as im very happy with the performance as is. have you standard 16v wheels you would part with welshpug!?

also, my water and oil temp gauge arent working? is this normally a sensor issue?

what sort of exhaust maifold do you recommend? cams arent a big priority at the minute. wheels, suspension and exhaust is as it has a stupid backbox atm.
