Post #16
so, because i
had to take annual leave from work, i decided to do a little work to the rallye.
i'd sourced brand new toyo t1r 195/55/15 tyres off ebay, for the measly sum of £30 each + £6 for fitting (i bought all 6 available
)
also, months ago i'd bought a load of genuine 306 parts (just in case), and i'd also removed the rich_w roller bearing wishbones from the gti6 i sold back in june
so the story was, there was an ever so slight knocking from the front end, and on closer inspection i found, not only a worn p-bush on the o/s, but a worn ball joint. so a couple of hours later, i had the new bones fitted
**many thanks to coz-kev for picking up a new ball joint, while on his way for me to rebuild his uprated beam**
now although i had no issues with the rear beam , i decided to rebuild a spare one i had, and swap them over.
on removal of the backbox, i noticed it had just started to blow. lucky for me i had a spare 'as new' one
now most people have different ways of removing the beam, but i prefer to just undo the handbrake cables, undo the 2 rear brakelines and unplug the abs sensors, and of course the 6 nuts holding the beam to the chassis
once the old beam was off, it was clear to see the handbrake cables were shot, and the n/s front mount was split
with the rebuilt beam, as usual, all parts used were genuine peugeot, and i also decided to set the ride height approx 10mm lower than o/e spec
so new mounts, new shocks, new handbrake cables, new disc protectors, new discs and pads were used
once everthing was back together, and brakes were bled, i was very happy with the result
how the car sits now, with the 195/55/15s fitted
i also had a spare pair of powdercoated yokes for the rear calipers. so they were fitted too
and the only other thing i added, was a new set of mudflaps
