I need to get some new tyres, 195/45/16's.

Ive got Kumho SPT KU31's on my Cyclones, which are fine, these are about £75 each for the 16's though.

From reading through some posts Uniroyal Rainsport 2's look good in the wet, but possibly a bit soft in the sidewall, would this improve going to a 45 profile on the 16's? These are about £85 fitted.

Continental Sport Contact have also been recommended, these are are £85 with an 80 load rating or £95 with 84.

These are from http://www.blackcircles.com/, they dont do the PE2's in this size and I couldnt find them elsewhere.

Any opinions on these for summer road use, or any other choices?

i've got 205/45/16 rainsport 2's on the front and can't fault them, they wear a tad fast though.
But as said, the sidewalls are on the soft side.

rear has BFG profilers which aren't bad either but they seem to be a lot 'fatter' than the rainsports.
Stronger/harder sidewalls too.

Aye, 195/45R16 is the size I run.

The Continentals are good tyres Yes

In order of preference: Continental, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (best tyres I've run, but not cheap!), Eagle F1 GSD XL (extra load makes them a bit stiffer than normal Eagle F1s, which tend to be a bit soft in the sidewalls).

there's pilot sport 3's in those sizes, 205 45 is the size I'd run though, not much difference in the prices.

Pilot Sport 3s are very good indeed.
F1 Assymetric - seems to be good so far.
Vredestein sessantas are also supposed to be great.

I've had the Rainsport 2s in that size and they were fine. Not that soft on the sidewall really (compared to PE2s). Gripped and wore well.

The Sport Contact 3's are looking good, but I can only get them in an 80 load rating, the Uniroyals come in 84. What difference will this make in the 306? I dont want them wearing down too fast Shock

80 load rating = 450kg per tyre max
84 = 500kg

Technically, the factory tyres were 84 load rating. I guess if you take into account fully loaded i.e. 5 passengers, full tank of fuel & luggage, will you exceed 450kg (but not 500kg)?
