Does anyone have any experience of gas flowing cylinder head. I am looking to tune my engine and spoke to a cylinder head specialist, he recomended having the head gas flowed and claimed it would give 20bhp. looking to fit kent pt81 cams and jenvy throttle bodies. Would doing the cylinder head as well be worth while. Know a guy who runs a standard engine with cams and throttle bodies at 205bhp

You get more by spending money on the pistons, rods and going 2.1 or 2.2

TB on a standard engine dependant on its condition should see you get 190 to 200 bhp
Kent pt 81 should get you 20 to 25 bhp
Gas flowed head alone is worth around 10 bhp
Head/ cams pt 81/Tb all in around 225 bhp plus
Im having my head done and will have pt 80 cams fitted ive been told this will give me 30 bhp plus
I got 213 bhp on a standard head and cams which upset a lot of people and tuners because they say you cant get this much power on a standard engine
So if i can do it i cant see why you cant just be carefull not to get ripped off by certain tuners who only want your money
Good luck

Bob, I guess it entirely depends on how you are getting the figures you are quoting. Headline BHp figures mean very little really.

Raised rev limit to get to 213 at all? Used to be the way to go on the ally Mi engines.

Do watch out for your pistons if you are using PT80/81s on a standard engine, especially if its had its head skimmed at all. Farking close.

No have not raised limit this was at 7000 revs These gti 6 engines are very different to the MI 16 engines gti6 engine in comparasion behaves like a 8 valve engine you do not wait for 4000 revs for power gti6 gives you power and torque throughout the rev range but dies out at 7000 in standard form
Headline bhp figuers do not mean nothing without driveability and torque on this forum there seems to be a concern for valve clearance ive spoken to Kent cams regarding this who assure me when using PT 80/81 cams valve clearance should not be a problem however if it has had a skim previously i can see there could be a problem if the valve clearance is close in standard form the figuers im quoting are from Longmans rolling road who is rated has a top peugeot tuner who was shocked at the bhp my engine was producing saying that hes never witnessed one producing so much power but the best bit is when other tuners say theres no way you can get this much power yet these tuners seek advice from Longman ive also taken this car to a local rolling road and have got identical figuers so it cant interepted has Longmans rolling road having a blond moment

Pt 81 cams theres a gti6 for sale on here which has 194 bhp after a ecu remap thats 27 bhp from fitting Pt 81 cams so if you fit Tb and get your head done 225 bhp plus is realistic

My advice is to contact harvey Gibbs at special car services he has his own superflow engine dyno ( the only and proper way to get genuine results not bullshit readings like you can get on a normal rolling road) . He is the mutts nuts with no added bull !!!!!!

Buy cheap buy twice, I bet you have looked at the loo manfolds, Unequal length inlet's and allot of work needed to make them flow well at least.
The Stachell bodies are the best, Will make Jenveys looks poor by anything upto 25bhp on a Mi engine

I'm only expecting around 230 from my engine with Jenveys, Pistons etc with some top end cams on std lifters this year, New bodies will come soon then a nice back to back test

Cylinder head develepments Andy is doing my head at the moment hes been in the buisness for years so he should know what hes doing lets see the results after hes done my head! Theres a lot of tuners been in the buisness for years most of them leave a lot to be desired some are good finding a good one can cost you a lot of wasted money

would be great to get some feadback let me know how your cylinder head turns out and power increase, The question is is does the power increase justify the cost, said around 350 plus cams

So gas flowing your head gave 8 bhp sharper response and probaly more torque if u run Tbs u will get in more air in plus the head will allow more air in with cams u will get more air in combine the whole effect pt 80 give 18 bhp on remapped ecu on standard head surely on a gas flowed head it should give at least 26 bhp plus so a head and cams give 30 bhp more on paper it can lets see what happens when i take my car on a rolling road if i gey an extra 30 bhp plus sharper response it will be money well spent £ 500 for 30 bhp sounds ok to me unless theres s better cost effective way to get 30 bhp
