i've got an odd one. car had its mot and failed on the handbrake. do i done the usaul to sort it out but............the driver side brake locks and the passenger one doesn't. so took the caliper apart and greased lubed etc BUT STILL THE SAME. so i then put a different caliper on............the same. so i took another look and the outer pad doesn't seem to make full contact with the disc yet everything is flush???? lost on ideas now, and just managed to get the car to past mot. doesnt seem to affect the car while under hard braking but i just want to get it sorted ________________________________________ Ph2 Black GTI 6!EX black 6 owner But now a Black caged rallye owner Hunting for Go faster bits! Even if it is the cable i would think that has nothing to do with the pad not contacting flush i'll try new cable then.________________________________________ Ph2 Black GTI 6!EX black 6 owner But now a Black caged rallye owner Hunting for Go faster bits! SEARCH click here |

The lever arm should pull back so it's slightly more than 90 degrees to the car, if it does that (and then retracts again smoothly) then I very much doubt it's the cable. If the outside pad isn't making contact it's because the caliper isn't centering properly, and that can only really be the sliders as far as I can think. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

We've tried 2 calipers now. Sliders have been free on both. Made sure of this.My guess is a slightly bent stub axle ________________________________________ 205 GTI6- Rebuilt engine, lightened flywheel, lightened pulley, 307 hdi brakes, Koni struts on gravel spec springs, 22mm TB's, 24mm ARB, Roll cage, Citreon ZX rear dampers, SL434's, Xsara box, Quickrack, Pipercross enclosed induction kit.Private work, not a prob |
