A 'chip' would be a complete waste of money. U sure the ecu cant be mapped by Wayne Schofild of Chipwizards. If you havent tried him then it would be worth a call.________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, £400 remap would buy you a good condition gti6 engine..________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

The only reallisic option if you really want to keep the 1.8 is to either fit full GTi6 management and get it remapped, or get an aftermarket ECU on it, but as said for the cost of either you'd save a bit just putting a '6 lump in complete anyway, and come out of it with more power. The 1.8's management copes well enough with cams and manifolds from a '6 anyway, though it's true it would be better with a different map.________________________________________ Ph1 306 GTi 6 | RX8 231 S1 | YBR 125 Cafe Racer | MT-03 660 |

As said, chipping does near on f*** all. If anything itll make your car worse by increasing fuel consumption. Wayne at chipwizards should be able to remap for standard ecu, but for a cost of around £400. gti6 engine much better. ________________________________________ 309 GTi6-T |

heres my two cents, feel free to critasise i bought a remapped eprom chip off ebay for my old 1.4 for £50. it raised my rev limit from 6300 to 7300. it lowered the bottom limit of the power band by about 1000rpm. so to start with it had 75bhp. After 16 years it had about 60 :p and with cold air induction the chip and a decat it had probly 70 :p in heinsight to think the ecu can only really change 3 things on a n/a aengine. when and how much fuel to squirt and when to set it on fire. i lernt my lesson. you want more power? buy a bigger engine ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

+2/thread again I'd hate to see the inside of some of the engines people put these chips on. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Stuffing those inside your engine would still leave less grease and shit than an eBay one would. Hmm....chips. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |
