Hi guys, I have a starting problem with my 6. Basically to start with I thought that the problem was just a dead battery, however now having put a new one on the problem is still here.

When I try to turn the engine over, it acts like a typical flat battery, however now with the new battery on the hazzard lights flash constantly and faster than a normal hazzard flash. Also the time/temp display flashes different patterns back and forth. Also the lights continue to flash when the keys are out of the ignition.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I think the issue may be immobiliser related, i've checked for contanuity of earth with a set of jump leads and still the same problem. Having played with the little button on the side of the steering column, the flashing speeded up and then stopped all together.

Anyone know of common immobiliser faults and is there a way to reset?

Lock and unlock the car with the plip button which de-activates the immobiliser and it should be fine.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the battery, then turn the key to position 2 and reconnect the battery. This also bypasses it.

Thanks a lot for that. Blip button no longer works so looks like option 2.

I have tried putting a set of jump leads from the negative terminal to the engine and bodywork and that didnt help. Pretty sure its the starter now, just wierd how the other issue with the hazzards cropped up, must be something to do with changing the battery.

The alarm causes the lights to flash even after taking out the keys. Press the button on the steering column but if that does not work like with mine, remove the alarm relay. The time/temp display always does this with the ftting of a new battery. Just use a pen to reset it.
