Right guys have had an ongoing problem with my pug 306! Headgasket got done and since then the car is fine but not if it's in traffic for a long time! The fans kick in at about 103?? Surely that's way to high and even then it doesn't push temp down! I then turn off engine and as expected water out of overflow pipe! Am I looking at a new fan switch or temp switch or what? Thanks guys

Also just to add the fan is very inconsistent about coming on! Also when it goes over 100 I tend to turn the car off so don't know Exatly what temp fan kicks in! If it does

Just a quick update I have now run the car till the fans kicked in at about 103!! I noticed only the left side spinning!! Is this normal! Thanks

I think the first fan should kick in at about 90 odd then the second at 103ish, so looks like your first fan isn't working.

Ye that looks and sounds right! The fan is high speed when kicks in so I'm guessing the low speed fan is nackered! Any suggestions what to do or I need?

Never done it myself, see if you can get to the connections and see if the first fan is getting 12v or not, it should come on when you unplug the brown temperature sensor plug.

Check obvious stuff like stones stuck in it, if it's getting volts but not blocked or turning it'll be new fan time.

Try the brown plug first, see if it comes on. If it doesn't, you'll need a multimeter to check the voltage.

Have a search on here, you'll find everything you need.

Took the plug out and only one fan came on! Seems like only the high speed fan is working! Is this common?

It is according to the number of threads already on the subject Wink

Just search for "fan not working", you'll find all the suggestions and fixes in there.

More than likely to be the bitron unit, which controls the fans.
